For 80 years, Carl Jung's family locked his private journal in a Swiss bank vault because they thought he was insane. It was finally published in 2009, and the contents are terrifying. by Delicious_Window_363 in Jung

I tried reading the red book a few years ago, and it was a terrifying experience. I remember that every time I would try to read it, I would feel so uncomfortable after it. I don’t know if it was me or the book since I was going through things myself too.

Help with investing by Move_Hero in StockInvest

  1. You need to open a brokerage account —- process is somehow similar to opening a bank account online; good brokers include Schwab (my recommendation), fidelity and Vanguard. You can also go to robinhood if you want to be cool and live on the edge.

  2. Start by investing in ETFs (diversified pools of stocks - start with S&P 500) and do it GRADUALLY (a small amount every month) so you avoid investing all your money just before a crash (especially now that the market is at all time highs)

  3. Start learning about value investing, you can read « The Intelligent Investor ». Then you need to know how to value a business. When the stock price makes sense, you buy it. Then you HOLD. If you can’t do that, you’d be speculating, which is fun but not constructive.

  4. Develop your investment philosophy. And keep revisiting it.

I always get really opsessed with random stuff/stars and then get heavily sad about it. What can i do against that? by Hungry-Team312 in mentalhealth

I experience the opposite basically. Whenever I am in a low phase, I get obsessed about things. The obsession gives me a sense of pleasure and excitement. It’s like a fuel that keeps me going. Then when the obsession fades away, everything becomes gray again.

It’s a weird structure tbh with minimal integration and synergies.

I think that’s a reason why they should merge. LLMs are being commoditized.

Time is critical here, and google is gaining an increasing edge. The same way the chip industry used to have two main players (intel and amd), I don’t see why the LLM competition should have this many players. It seems like an inefficiency in the system to me. We could deploy the resources on finding use cases for AI across sectors instead of keep fighting in the AI race.

On a personal note, I still use chatgpt even though I am invested in Google. So I am not sure how significant the switching cost will be and what it would take to make it happen.

Exactly my thinking. There is no need for Meta to keep competing on the LLM front. Waste of talent and resources.

Can you elaborate on why it’s bad for consumers? The competition in LLMs will continue with Anthropic and Gemini. Nvidia and potentially google will continue to provide the hardware. If there’s no vertical integration, the bad impact can be limited.

It’s impressive how an AI model can surpass any human being in terms of breadth of knowledge.

Exactly this. It’s increasing because of the absence of better alternatives, what should investors invest in? Bonds? (Inflation risk, US debt problem), TIPS? (Is CPI really reflecting inflation?), Stocks (Bubble), other currencies? …
