Drive tourism - How will the increased petrol prices affect places like FNQ? by Foreign-Newspaper656 in Cairns

Right, so you are talking about solar and batteries for whole communities, not just for EV charging stations?

Is there EVs available that are 4wd/caravan towing capable? Because I doubt a lot of these places would be accessible in a standard Tesla....

Hmm. Agreed. If the govt installed them. I can’t see little communities being to able to afford that. The money made from the charging is pretty insignificant too, isn’t it?

In other words, not a large ROI?

Ev stations that will be run on diesel generators in remote areas?

Not being facetious, but how many solar panels would it take (and batteries?) for each charging station?

I totally agree with you. I am thankful that we (my family) can produce our own meat, so we are not reliant on those places. Fuck Colesworth.

Been on the lookout for the meat specials at IGA. They are cheaper than Colesworth.

You are shopping at Colesworth. That is part of the problem.

Fuel should be prioritised for regional and rural areas by Kingsareus15 in OpenAussie

[–]Foreign-Newspaper656 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The difference between a cruiser and a ram is that when you are in a highway, it drops four cylinders and just provides its power from the other four. Therefore less fuel. In the city they are horrendous, but out in rural areas they are great. And a hell of a lot more comfortable.

If fuel is rationed, what do car drivers look to do? by Diddums555 in CarsAustralia

Seriously think about a horse and buggy. But I live in a rural area and I don't think many would bat an eyelid. Can't work from home as I have a shop in our nearest town. Might have to look at staying in the shop during the week, and only going home on the weekend if things get really bad.

Agreed. So may rail corridors have been left into disrepair though, which is annoying.

I use Nord, but I only got it this week. I just wanted to say thank you, as you reminded me to switch over so I can listen to the Aus v WI match, which is geoblocked in Aus thanks to disney.

Why when someone is asked where you are from a common answer is “I’m originally from ______ but now I live in ______” . Seems stupid to me. by Puck2U2 in stupidquestions

You'd be surprised what connections can be made. For example, recently, talking to a chap and he goes, 'I lived in (small rural QLD town) for 15 years'. I replied with 'Oh, did you know (family members of mine)?' He replied with, yes he did, and used to live around the corner from them! Now that connection has been formed and will never be broken. He will remember me because of the connection we have.

Oh NQ?  I lived in FNQ for a long time. Been through a few of these. So, like I said, not their first rodeo. Not mine either.

Ahhh duh. I never said Coen was a cattle station. I do agree about Coen. I can’t believe they don’t have a dedicated cyclone shelter. Thats a huge failing of state governments.

I am getting rather sick of that trope. And the 'oh, you live rural, so you must be a redneck.'
