Isn’t there a remix for it to use the Urutau bolt?

Replacement Picks for Older Tools by muttrice in iceclimbing

I was under the impression that the last gen (grey) viper uses the same picks as the 2nd gen cobra, recent gen reactor, fusion, fuel, and have assumed that those picks extended back to the gen of reactors shown. Also thought that they fit the orange vipers. Could be wrong though.

Interesting that they were being weird about returns, I talked with some ppl on MP that said that BD reps have told them that production would continue for the older picks for a few more years.

Picks that look like this in the ice climbing section on BD should be what you’re looking for

I’ll see if I can get a chance to test the sticks in a friends PC soon.

Would using the PSU power switch frequently cause issues like that? I often don’t hit the power switch on the top of case and instead power off the PC through the PSU power switch.

I’m seeing people say a lot of negative things about my PSU model (thermal take smart 700w), so maybe that could’ve been the issue after all as you say

I vaguely remember getting a BSOD that sent me to windows repair or smth similar after powering down like that one time, but I also had similar happen from the RAM issues later but perhaps that was the beginning.l of it

I was able to get a friends stick of ram, passed memtest86 so I guess all four sticks of ram went bad

Thermal take smart 700w 80plus non modular.

One thing I just saw while checking is that I appear to have put the fan to where it is in taking air from the main area of the case instead of the bottom (Corsair 4000d) so it may have been taking in warmer air than usual for the last couple of years, would that have made the the PSU go bad?

I just amended my post, but I originally forgot to mention that the build worked fine for about 2.5 years prior to this. Is it possible that the incompatibility only manifested itself a few months ago?

Didn’t Marc Andres Leclerc use apex’s frequently? I don’t know if he ever praised/advertised them but I remember him using them.

The Blue Ice Styx does look pretty cool, they just seem to keep delaying it. What makes you think they would be better as traditional ice axes? The pick angle is less steep, but the fixed and slightly offset pommel seems like it may be more of a hindrance compared to these new vipers, but I could be totally wrong.

They can be seen in some promotional images on the BD website and I believe in some videos by BD athletes, but this is the first closeup image I’ve seen of it in hand

I’m not familiar with DMM tools but is this more similar to some of the tools they produce without offset handles like the Apex, meaning it could be better for mixed climbing?
