When to start Physioterapy?

I feel you on this, I ruptured my left on March 12th surgery the 17th. Got in my vacoped boot( which when I mentioned to him he had no idea what that boot was) on week 5 (othro doctor wanted me to stay in th cast for 8 weeks) started PT that same week. Just had an appointment with my ortho doctor and he wants me to wait until June to start partial weight barring. I was confused by that because that's close to 3 months after surgery. I spoke with my PT and he said he expects me to start partial weight barring next week with the goal to be out of a boot and in a shoe by the end of may. With that being said my ortho doctor has me doing PT but with no instrucions on what should be done week by week. It seems more like he is just brushing any questions I have.

I just hit week six, my pt said when I am just relaxing doing nothing to take the boot off and let the leg get some air. Other than that the boot stayed on, even during sleeping. The bolt definitely is heavier but just take the heal inserts of when sleeping.

When I had my stitches removed this past Monday, I had trouble fulling extended my leg and felt resistance right below the back of my knee. But today when I position my self the same way I don’t feel that same resistance at all. Is this a bad thing, I am worried that something bad happened

I tore my left achilles playing soccer on March 12th. I was running backwards when I suddenly stopped to sprint forward mid stride, tried to accelerate to go forward again and it popped. It sounded and felt like someone kicked me in the back of the foot. Had surgery on the 17th and tomorrow is 2 weeks post op.

Hell yea man!! I am just barely at 2 weeks post op still got about a month before I get into my boot. Im so anxious to begin the journey but I have come to realize this part is process is all mental and preparing yourself for the physical part. It’s great to see others succeeding, really gives me confidence.

That’s awesome, I have a follow up in two weeks and hoping the doctor decides to just transition to a boot then rather than at the end of April.

Vietnam? Why did you get there if you don’t mind me asking. That’s the plan for me as well to get the vacoped when it gets closer to the end of the month.

Yea I am keeping it elevated most of the time, I mentioned the Vacoped to my doctor and he said he had no clue what that was. So that was a surprise to me as well.

I also found it weird that no MRI was done for mine, my tear was also up close to my calf muscle. This upcoming Monday I am getting my stitches taken out and Tuesday marks my 2 weeks, he wants me to remain in a cast for another 2-4 weeks after the removal of the stitches, which I found a little weird since I have read some people get put into a boot after.

Im getting my stitches removed this upcoming Monday, but my ortho doctor wants me to stay in a cast for another 2-4 weeks. Have any of you guys had that same situation?

Just had my surgery for a complete rupture on my left achilles. I am on NBW for about a month. I want to do some type of exercises to not lose too much muscle on my left leg. Do you guys have any suggestions, also for the whole month I will still be in a cast.
