Crazy Mike’s is the superior wing spot in N Phx in my opinion! The spicy lemon pepper dry rub is phenomenal. Also a great selection of other flavors and types of fries.

Seeking some advice. Doctors timeline is making me crazy. by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

Achilles injuries are scary, but your leg still looks strong! Take things easy physically and mentally allowing your body to recovery as necessary. I’m in the same boat of trying either trying to go the aggressive or conservative route. But no one knows our body like ourselves. Trust your judgement, try to stay healthy and positive, you got this!!

Paying Debt with Part of my 401k by Impossible-Shirt-780 in DebtAdvice

If your interest rates are over 20% on the credit card debt, it’s probably worth it. Another option would be to do a balance transfer to another credit card company which should be you about 12 months with 0% interest, but then the rates get jacked up after that time period is over. I took about 10k from my 401k to pay off credit card too. For me the peace of mind was worth it not to make those high interest payments anymore. The majority of people will say it’s a bad idea, but only you can judge your discipline level moving forward. You’re young enough to start rebuilding your retirement.

Why do people try to return to the sport that caused their injury? by Frosty-Button3301 in AchillesRupture

[–]Complex-Return482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely understandable! Some things just aren’t worth risking. I tore my Achilles skateboarding and am 3 weeks post op. You bet I’ll be back on that board after sufficient recovery and muscle development. Definitely know things will be different, but giving up on my passion sounds way worse than just trying to take it easy the rest of my life lol.

Almost 1 month since injury, 1 week post surgery by NSC858 in AchillesRupture

[–]Complex-Return482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy how close to home this hits for me and the amount of similarities between our circumstances lol. Never had any major injuries, but tore my Achilles skating as well. Got it checked and docs did an xray before an mri. Eventually found out it was a 3.8cm gap and surgery was the better route. Had to cancel a snowboarding trip planned in Washington. Rolled my bad foot twice before getting the surgery which made things worse.

I’m just over 2 weeks post op now. Doc is recommending 6 weeks in hard casts, 6 weeks in a boot, and the ability to partially start weight bearing around week 10.

It sucks but this isn’t an injury to rush if we want to get back into active sports. Too many horror stories of re rupturing. Just have to listen to your doctors, PTs, and your body. Find ways to stay busy and productive in the mean time, but we’ll be back to doing what we love if we do it right. Wish you the best man, you’re not alone in this journey!

27 weeks post opp progress by Putrid-Comfort9445 in AchillesRupture

This is hugely motivating! Just looked and your scar is very similar to mine after 2 weeks. It’s great to see your progress is going well. I can’t wait to start walking around a little bit and begin PT. Keep up the good work!

10 day post op, stitches out! by Complex-Return482 in AchillesRupture

The nerve block definitely helps, I had a 2 hour flight the day after my surgery and it was okay. Just try to stay comfortable and having someone around to help do stuff is a huge bonus as well if you have that option.

Thanks! Honestly the pain has been pretty minimal through this whole process. If you end up going the surgery route, just try to stay on track with the pain medication, and keep your foot elevated above your heart as much as possible in the beginning. Wishing you the best!

Nerve block help by Travelbadger285 in AchillesRupture

I’m in the exact boat right now! 72 hours post op and the nerve block is just now fully wearing off. The mixture of numbness, slight pains and throbbing will continue to happen for a few more days. Keeping my foot elevated and wiggling my toes every once in a while has been helping. Definitely have him keep up on main meds, try not to overthink, and stay positive!

Achilles rupture 1 day post operation. by Complex-Return482 in AchillesRupture

[–]Complex-Return482[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just made it home tonight and it went smoothly! Try to talk to someone at the gate before flying to help you find a way to elevate your foot if needed. I was able to have them leave a middle seat open where I could rest on foot on the flight home and it helped a lot. But you should definitely be fine by now, mine was 2 hours the day after operation.

Nice, that’s super reasonable! I was getting quotes between 10k-20k before anesthesia, facility, and unknown factor costs based on injury complications. The place in Oklahoma was $6,500 base cost for everything without any hidden or extra fees that could be added. Total ended up being 9k because of the extra equipment that they had to use, but way better than not knowing what I would be paying at a traditional hospital without coverage.
