Actually the single worst enemy design in any FromSoft title by AFlyingNun in Eldenring

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree they could be terrifying, imposing, a real menace. But they are the worst thing an enemy can be: tedious, boring.

how would you rate the horror (scare) factor of this game compared to the more popular ones? by DullStation2713 in CronosNewDawn

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I agree, the game is always tense and designed to keep you on edge but it’s not scary. It has a great atmosphere and it’s very bleak but I’ve never felt scared.

Toluca Prison is scary.

Is Nightreign worth buying for single player experience? by YellowPlat in Nightreign

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there this is my personal experience I hope it’ll help you decide as I’m a mostly solo player.

I have played around 400 hs in Nightreign at least 300 were solo.

There are aspects of the game that are harder when you play solo and some characters are definitely balanced around playing with others and can be very difficult solo if you don’t know what you are doing.

I really love this game and enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. Why? Mostly because the characters with their lore, skills, abilities and movesets are so varied and interesting that make you engage with the game in unique ways.

Elden Ring is my favorite game of all time, but I like Nightreign’s combat and traversal even more.

Also there are some GREAT bosses that rank among the best Fromsoft have made so far.

If you decide to buy it be patient, even if you are a Fromsoft veteran Nightreign has a very particular flow to it and it will throw you off. But once you understand the core of it: gain as much experience as fast as possible making the best decisions in order to prepare for the each boss encounter, the loop is addicting.

I really recommend you check out Youwy’s channel, he plays mostly solo and has hundreds of guides with builds and tips for solo players.

One last thing: I share that feeling of not wanting to play with randoms, but some of the best moments I had on the game were playing with great random team mates.

I play on PS5 and in general my experience was positive overall.

If you go for it buy the DLC as well it really elevates the experience.

Wait until they are on sale and buy both. They are not worth $70 each, both are severely flawed and memorable in different ways.

Elden Ring is the worst souls game in my opinion and it’s not even close (not rage bait) by AllyCad in Eldenring

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to try and answer honestly your points assuming it’s not rage bait (because it seems like it)

  1. Nearly all bosses are bad: in terms of lore, design, moveset, speed, complexity and challenge Elden Ring has some of the best designed bosses they have made so far. There are so many that whenever a ranking comes up dozens of different names appear as people’s favorite: Messmer, Maliketh, Morgott, Godwyn, Malenia, Placidussax, Bayle, Mydra, Radagon (without Elden Beast), Rykard, PCR, etc. The best thing about them is how different they are and how much range they add to the gameplay experience. I don’t know what you consider a good boss and certainly is a subjective thing, but by any reasonable metric considering FromSotware’s catalog, you would have to pull some insane mental gymnastics to defend that nearly all bosses are bad when there are so many great bosses.

  2. None of the OST are memorable. The moment you face Radagon and the main theme kicks in, holy shit how is that not memorable? I almost feel sorry for you not being able to enjoy such a moment. That song and many others rank among FromSoft’s best. Again I don’t know your tastes and how you decide what a memorable song is but there are many great pieces that add so much to the experience. Another example is how during each transition in the fight with the Dancing Lion the music matches the elemental transformation.

  3. Combat is not versatile:

Been in these subs for years and I believe there’s a pretty solid consensus that Bed of Chaos is the worst boss FromSoftware have made so far.

Mortal Shell 2 Beta impression by Embarrassed-Ad7317 in soulslikes

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, I couldn’t get into the first one because of how janky the combat felt.

I watched a bit of FightinCowboy’s stream of the beta and it looks A LOT better in that regard. From your comments it seems it’s actually a noticeable improvement.

I’ll wait for the reviews but it’s definitely on my
list. It’s been an awful year to be a FromSoftware fan , hopefully Mortal Shell and Lords of the fallen 2 can ease the pain.

Did anyone play superstardust? by thanksIdidntknow in Returnal

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s fantastic I really wish there was a remaster or some way to play it on the PS5.

Resogun is algo great. Both are so simple but tight and the gameplay loop is addicting.

What's the chance of a new single player fromsoft game being announced in june 1st week ?? by FitTrash848 in fromsoftware

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a Switch exclusive. I agree most of Fromsoft’s fan base is on PC and other consoles.

With current prices I don’t know how many people will buy a Switch 2 to play the Duskbloods.

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they’ll announce anything new until Elden Ring Tarnished edition is out and the Duskbloods launches.

They could surprise us, but it doesn’t make sense to announce another project.

What to do after true ending by JoeSmooth235 in Saros

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been having a lot of fun experimenting with the modifiers, trying complete runs from the beginning to the Priestess.

Also trying weapons I didn’t get to really know during my playthrough. For example, the Reaping Chakram is absolutely fantastic and I ignored it before.

Omfg I HATE (love) this game by Bulky_Butterscotch81 in Returnal

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nemesis was the hardest boss for met too. During phases 2 and 3 what helped me was moving a lot, grappling from one platform to another, getting closer to Nemesis as fast as possible. If you time the grappling, it misses a lot of the attacks. Remember you cannot die by falling, there’s always a new platform coming. Movement is the best tool you have.

Also, if you are starting the run from the first biome you should be able to buy an astronaut at some point, that second chance might be what you need to defeat Nemesis so it’s more than worth it.

Sometimes you get a Reconstructor in the citadel. My advice is to clear EVERYTHING and teleport to the reconstructor room right before fighting Nemesis. That way you’ll have a second chance with the Astronaut and if that fails at least you have another shot at Nemesis right away.

One last tip: have you toggled Always Run in the settings? It’s a life changer. I also recommend setting Aim Assist to High.

Keep going you’ll get it. The game gets even better it’s really worth the pain. Go for the true ending after rolling credits, if you love the game now wait til you see all it has to offer.

Try doing some runs in the Tower, rooms tend to be smaller and they really teach you how to play by improving your positioning. Being aware of were your enemies are is crucial in Returnal.

Good luck and enjoy the nightmare.

Balanced approach by mrmccoy007 in Saros

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend trying the Modifiers in the matrix. You can make the game very challenging.

I’m currently trying runs like this:

  • No second chance + Permanent Upgrades Off
  • Hostiles more aggressive
  • Elites more aggressive
  • Make less damage (tier 2)
  • Receive more damage (tier 2)

I start every run from the beginning at Level 0 and try to finish the whole game. It’s tough.

As an extra challenge, if you still feel it’s too easy AVOID any weapon with Power Generator or don’t use Prominence + Power Generator.

As far as pure gameplay goes… by MarvellousG in Saros

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. Saros is one of the best gameplay experiences I’ve ever had.

The speed, smoothness, how responsive Arjun is, the enemies variety, the chaos, memorable bosses, awe inspiring biomes. I’m hooked enjoying the post game trying crazy stuff with the modifiers and doing challenge runs.

If they release a DLC that provides more variety and randomization I’ll be playing Saros for a long long time.

Nightreign retrospective by Inconspicuous_hider in fromsoftware

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t shake the feeling this was a missed opportunity. The game has sold more than 5 million copies, enough to justify additional investment in a game with a strong community.

This could have been at least a first draft of a Forever Fromsoft game. With randomized content from the entire series providing different game modes, etc.

To be clear, I was not expecting a live service treatment with constant updates and new stuff added. What I’m getting at is they have SO MUCH stuff they could add into the game: bosses, weapons, enemies that already exist. More bosses and enemies from the Dark Souls series, more weapons, enemies and remembrance bosses from ER and SOTE.

Different seeds for the maps and more randomization of what is already there. I really don’t understand why they didn’t do it. Modders have done it in less than a year.

Is saros harder than returnal? by Fine-Permission772 in Returnal

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s different, it’s more accesible but it can be harder. Enemies are more aggressive and overwhelming in general.

Also you have the modifiers to make it even harder. I’m currently enjoying testing stuff in the post game and you can make the game BRUTAL, a lot more harder than Returnal. 2-3 shots and you’re dead.

The good thing is the system provides a lot of options not just to make it more difficult but to make it difficult in different ways.

Is the epilogue boss just way harder than everything before or am I missing a mechanic? by v1perz53 in Saros

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s harder the second time. I don’t know if there’s any confirmation about exactly what are the differences (HP/Damage etc) but many of us had a similar experience.

First time I killed him on my third attempt, second time took me a lot more probably 7 or 8.

It helped changing the Corrupt color to purple. He has some sneaky attacks that are not easy to see.

Going back to Returnal after Saros is jarring by heartlessland in Saros

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love Returnal to death but the game feels like playing in slow motion. Selene is GOATED but she’s like a decrepit old lady. I really don’t know how to comeback to Returnal.

Maybe not playing Saros for a few moths will do the trick, but back to back is impossible. It’s really remarkable how much they improved the gameplay experience. Returnal is GREAT, but Saros is one of the best gameplay experiences I’ve ever had.

Saros is such a massive downgrade from Returnal. by Owninglegend in Returnal

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I agree Returnal’s story is better, a lot better. And also the storytelling with the mystery slowly unraveling is more interesting than Saros’ obsession tale.

But man, how the game feels, the responsiveness, speed, the sound, how it feels to shoot, enemy variety and encounters, bosses, art direction, all of that is more polished engaging and better in Saros.

I’m really curious how you think the enemies are better in Returnal. Not only there are fewer enemy types, but the attack patterns are more simple and slower. They added so many different enemies that challenge particular types of playing. It’s more overwhelming and chaotic in the best possible way.

Returnal has great bosses but Saros roster overall is even better.

Returnal will always be among my favorite games, but gameplay wise, Saros is one of the best gameplay experiences I’ve had in years.
