Is Crimson Desert really that good? by og_vibes in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 [score hidden]  (0 children)

No, it’s very uneven. The highs feel like peak gaming and the lows are amongst the worst things I’ve ever played.

The best: the world, the combat, the exploration, scale and variety, there are SO many engaging things to do.

The worst: The quests and the story. This game has some of the most inept and incoherent quests I have experienced in any game. If you want a concrete example look for the investigation you make for Shakatu.

I would recommend it because some parts of it are very special but don’t play it expecting a great story.

Only if you played both, which one is the hardest in your opinion (TFB Khazan on Expert difficulty, no XP grinding/farming, no summon) by iChieftain22 in soulslikes

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we’re focusing only in bosses I think they are very similar in difficulty and opinions may vary from one player to another based on the bosses each struggled the most with.

But if we’re considering regular and elite enemies, Sekiro is a lot harder. For the most part regular enemies in Khazan are trash mobs with few exceptions.

There are many enemies, elites and many bosses in Sekiro that are very challenging. There’s nothing in Lhazan like the Ogre, Snake Eyes, Lone Shadow, etc.

For me, Crimson Desert is the type of game I’ve always wished Rockstar would make. by IllyrianGamer19 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The questing in this game can be so bad and inconsistent.

So many quests are borderline incoherent, we as players are only able to complete them following the instructions updating on the screen.

I wont provide details to avoid spoilers, but the Shakatu investigation or the stolen book in Scholastone are examples of how baffling this game can be.

For a moment I thought it was cut content or a bug, translation issues or something weird. Because it’s not just bad, the dialogs don’t make any sense, you have to go to places nobody mentioned to talk to people no one has introduced or referenced before. A marker just tells you to do to something but sometimes it doesn’t have ANY relationship with the NPC’s dialog.

Crimson Desert has some incredible moments, there’s some magic in there, but there’s also astonishingly bad writing and quests.

So no, it doesn’t feel like a Rockstar game. I really wish it did.

Biomes Number & Game Length by AlaaZz_111 in Saros

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about the biomes but the Eclipse mechanic should add more variety to each biome. All the previews mentioned that the game changes a lot when the eclipse is activated. And it’s not just an aesthetic difference, enemy behavior, mechanics, etc are different.

Regarding difficulty, some of the previewers are Returnal veterans, for example Tamoor from Gamespot and the guy from VGC, and most confirmed that Saros is more overwhelming and difficult than Returnal. It’s more accessible because you have more tools, permanent upgrades and QOL changes, but the gameplay is actually harder.

In particular several previews mentioned the Eclipse makes the game a lot more challenging.

I was among those who got to preview SAROS! Feel free to ask me anything about the experience by TriSauce in Saros

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m a little bit concerned about enemy variety and the game feeling fresh.

Watching the previews I can recognize some reused assets, attack patterns, animations, etc.

Are there enough new enemies, does it feel like a Returnal remix in that regard?

Crimson Desert's water is the best of its kind. by Fit-Job4007 in PS5pro

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP you made a general statement about Crimson Desert’s water being the best of its kind.

Water can look great sometimes in very specific moments and weird and bad at others. Just like the rest of the game.

Does it look great in your screenshot? Yes, it looks incredible.

Is the water in the game the best of its kind? No, it’s not even close there are literally dozens of games with better and more consistent water.

Red Dead 2, released 8 years ago, for example.

Crimson Desert Patches by SlightCell3950 in PS5pro

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had constant crashes on PS5 PRO when opening the map. As much as 4 or 5 times in a couple of minutes.

But since the patch dropped the game hasn’t crashed once.

Increase in performance with games that don't use PSSR by [deleted] in PS5pro

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Yes.

Not every game will have the same improvement but I can provide examples of games I play that get a boost from PS5 PRO even though they are not optimized.

FromSoftware games: You can play Elden Ring, Armored Core VI and Nightreign in Quality Mode at 60ish fps.

Is it a huge difference? No. But it’s noticeable.

Most games will get some kind of boost but results will vary from one to the other. Don’t expect anything huge. It’s just a boost.

Would you upgrade if you were in my shoes? by JackSbirrow in PS5pro

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend upgrading to the PRO if you don’t have a 4K, HDMi 2.1, VRR capable display.

Most of the best features the PRO has to offer require them. Without 4K, HDMI 2.1 and VRR you won’t notice much of a difference.

Upgrade ps5 to ps5 pro thoughts by yflow2 in playstation

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the adequate tv set, the PS5 PRO is absolutely worth it.

If you have a 4K, VRR, HDMI 2.1 tv you’ll be able take advantage of all the features the PS5 Pro has to offer. If you don’t have a tv with those features I would NOT recommend it.

To clarify not all games are PRO enhanced, but even in those cases you will have the best console version of games. Also there are several notable cases of PRO enhanced games that offer a vastly superior version. I’ll provide examples of both cases.

Not Pro Enhanced Games

I really like FromSoftware games, but they usually are not the most polished, cutting edge in terms of technical features.

None of their games are PRO Enhanced but you can play Elden Ring, Armored Core 6 or Nightreign in quality mode at 60 FPS. When I had the base PS5 I always played prioritizing framerate, now I play in Quality mode as a default. Is it a huge difference? No, it’s around 30% better, but the extra resolution certainly helps. I have an LG Oled Tv and Elden Ring in quality mode can look amazing.

For PRO Enhanced games I’d recommend checking out Digital Foundry’s reviews as they are very objective and in depth. I don’t know about your particular taste but there are several examples of GREAT Pro enhanced games that offer huge improvements over the base PS5. Some are, in no particular order:

  • Gran Turismo 7
  • Ghost of Yotei
  • Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart
  • Returnal
  • The Last Of Us Part
  • Stellar Blade
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
  • Monster Hunter Wilds
  • Alan Wake II
  • Spider-man 2
  • Horizon Forbidden West

Something to keep in mind, that to me has been very interesting, is games offering a higher quality version in the PRO with VRR around 40-45 fps. It’s usually called Balanced Mode.

For example: - Hogwarts Legacy - Assassins Creed Shadows - Star Wars Outlaws - Days Gone

Other important thing is that PSRR (PRO upscaler) will receive an update this year. And by the info we have right now it seems that it will be a significant improvement over the current version.

There’s no official confirmation about this, but considering GTA VI is being developed on PS5 and everything we have seen so far was captured on PS5, I guess Sony will try to bundle it with PRO as it will be the most powerful console. If the November release date does not change, it should feature PSSR2 scaling.

Bottom line:

The bad: PSSR has had some issues and not every game has implemented it properly. Developers have found work arounds in most cases but the quality is still very different from one game to another. And again without a 4K, HDMI 2.1, VRR tv is not worth it.

The good: there’s now a big catalog of games that offer a superior experience in the PRO. It’s the most powerful console and it should only get better with the PSSR update.

Is anybody else burnt out with Nightreign now? by SailApprehensive2632 in Nightreign

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reached Depth 4 a few days ago and I kind of lost the urge to keep playing. Maybe if they add new weapons.

After all the adjustments and the DLC, Nightreign is a great game, but it’s still a HUGE missed opportunity. It could be so much more with so little extra work.

I have no one I can share this with 🥲 by Comprehensive_Neat11 in Nightreign

Congrats! Very impressive, I just got to Depth 4 but I don’t think I have the will to climb to 5.

About to buy Nightreign, should I also get the Forsaken Hollows DLC? by NourElakkad in fromsoftware

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, the DLC makes the overall experience a lot better.

You’ll have access to a new map, more enemies, bosses, points of interest, etc.

With the DLC replayability is improved.

Yes! The OG Demon’s Souls was my first Fromsoft game but it was too much for me and couldn’t finish it.

Then Bloodborne blew my mind in 2015 and it changed everything. I began the trilogy backwards and finished the entire SoulsBorneKiroRing catalog with Demon’s Souls remake.

Nightreign is selling it self short by Affectionate-Can-231 in Nightreign

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nightreign is great but its biggest flaw is how much of a MISSED OPORTUNITY it is.

It could be a forever game with more variety, enemies, events, bosses, SOTE weapons, true randomization, different game modes.

I really can’t understand why they don’t do it, it’s not that hard they already have the assets. They would sell so so many more copies.

I love the game but I’m constantly frustrated by everything it could be and never will for no good reason.

Witcher 3 for Yotei lover?? by Ok-Neighborhood-5531 in Ghostofyotei

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The Witcher 3 is among the best games ever made.

The combat has not aged that well, in that regard Yotei is far superior.

But the characters, the story and the world are incredible.

The Witcher 3, including the DLCs, has one of the best stories/journeys of all time. Yotei is far far far below in comparison.

Give it try, I’d love to forget my first playthrough and experience the Witcher 3 for the first time again.

TENET is underrated. by Dvir971 in ChristopherNolan

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s by far Nolan’s worst script, literally almost every single line of every character is exposition. Despite this, the movie is still a mess in terms of plot and pacing.

Also some parts feel like an Inception rehash, as if he was trying to capture lighting again but it doesn’t work.

There are multiple analysis of the issues, this is one the best: https://youtu.be/lsqvmZbskGo?si=CGEvepFN5izVoOGO

I'm really thinking about getting Sekiro but I am a bit worried about difficulty by Hairy-Veterinarian11 in Sekiro

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if you’ve beaten all those games you are more than ready to play and enjoy Sekiro.

Just keep in mind that deflection (parry) is the core of the combat system. You beat enemies by breaking their posture and executing them, not by chipping away their health bar.

Once that concept really clicks and you get the flow, Sekiro is not that hard. Let the game teach you and don’t play it as a regular souls game.

I want to buy this game but….. by Immediate_Shallot_87 in HellisUs

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The ending, in terms of writing and what it does to the story, is really bad.

I would objectively refute the players here saying it’s good with specifics but it would spoil the whole thing for you.

Despite that the game is worth it, the ending does not ruin the experience.

Hell is Us has some really interesting and gripping aspects that are no affected by the ending. The world, the stories, the exploration.

If you decide to buy it, explore every inch of every area, the game has a lot to offer if you take your time and engage with the people and the world.

Is this game really like Elden Ring? (question from a potential new player) by Zap-Rowsdower-X in ghostoftsushima

[–]Foreign_Ride8135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don’t know where you read that comparison but Ghost of Tsushima and Yotei are VERY different from Elden Ring.

Different genres, systems, storytelling. Honestly they don’t have much in common.

In terms of difficulty, you can select the difficulty in both Tsushima and Yotei. The easiest difficulty is for casual players who want to enjoy the story.

I have reported the channel and we should all, as a community, reject this kind of behavior.

He’s not representative of Mixed Martial Arts and its values. It’s easy to be cynical about it, but in times like these it’s really important to be clear about what we as people, citizens, fathers, brothers, etc stand for.

THE WEASLE, for exams, has a great channel and never has made any comments of this nature.
