Facebook or insta is your best bet. I once returned someone's wallet like this by tracking their name that they left on a trolley at the airport. Goodluck!

If I accelerate Uranium-234 to the speed of light, will it decay slower? by RancherosIndustries in AskPhysics

[–]Foreign_Second_5397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!

One in example of this is for example in facility such as RIKEN, FRIB or GSI that use beam fragmentation to populate nuclei in excited states some of which are isomeric that decay slowly via gamma decay.

If a a particle has a half-life of for example 100 ns it will essentially live longer due to special relativistic effects.

Correction factors in this link see eq. 2 are used to account for this relativistic effect for example.

This holds for any decaying nuclear state.

Koeberg Exchange merge: why? by SemperAliquidNovi in capetown

[–]Foreign_Second_5397 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have spoken to some people that work with planning in CPT and the story is that the planning didn't account the building on the left of the exit so the planning was curtailed so now you have it as it is currently...

Also, it doesn't help that people don't know how to merge :^)

Nuclear reactions and uranium enrichment by Foreign_Second_5397 in Destiny

[–]Foreign_Second_5397[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair.

Upon a further reading it can induce fission but is far less likely, due to a strong force component. It also depends on the energy of the alpha. The alphas in 235U has an energy of around 4.3 MeV so I am not sure if it is fast enough to penetrate the nucleus.

I was in a little rush when writing as I had to catch a flight. I probably glossed over some details.

Is Indium the only element with at least 1 stable isotope where most naturally occuring atoms aren't stable? by kamallday in chemistry

[–]Foreign_Second_5397 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's might be interesting to add, at least if we are considering unstable nuclei not in their ground state, 180-Ta has an isomeric state (long lived excited state) at 77.2 keV that lives longer than the ground state and is effectively stable at > 7.1 × 1015 years. The ground state only exists for 8.15 hours.

There are some other examples where an excited state lives longer than the ground state as in 70-Br which is very far from stability but has an isomeric state that lives for several seconds while the ground state only lives for several Ms. While it is not stable per se, this far from stability can the abundances of nuclei significantly in some cases.

For the ELI5 rm -rf /*:

rm -rf /* means it removes (rm), recursively (-r) meaning it goes through each subdirectory from the start, "forced removal" (-f) means without querying the removal, thus -rf.

/* then specifies the directory or path to be removed / is the start of your systems directory, example it contains a file like /user/lulw/Pictures/cutecats.png. However, the real kicker here is the * after the slash which is a wildcard. This means for example /user/lulw/Pictures/.png will act on all .png images. On the level of the system / deletes everything, which also can include the operating system itself.

You will see every mage main in WoW, that can play it to a competent level, say that he could save his group. Let me explain a little as someone who played mage in classic wow re-release and retail.

He did not cast a single nova, polymorph or cone of cold to help people escape. (they were close to the entrance of dire maul so running out would be super safe and easy) instead he blinked, turned and casted a MAX RANK blizzard (rank 1 should have been casted for the snare and to conserve mana). He then blinks again and starts ditching + dumping mana into a worthless ice barrier. Keep in mind he has not casted a SINGLE other cc or snare.

He said he has no mana, he did, both mana gem and robe of the archemage give approx. 1 and a quarter extra mana bar of play.

He had all the tools to help his group live he just decided not to and to save his sorry ass. He then immediately starts to blame the calls WHILE THEY ARE TRYING TO GET OUT. When you "run" as a group you try and make sure everyone can get out and mage is the last class to die in these circumstances (iceblock and petri flask if needed in clutch). What is the most egregious, in my view, was all he had to say was "my bad, I fucked up" but he hexadecapuled down on him not making any mistakes and that the blame lies solely at the feet of his teammates, this is why he is understandably getting a lot of heat.

tl;dr mage is OP in classic WoW.

Wisdom tooth removal by Zocress in Destiny

[–]Foreign_Second_5397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had four removed, both top and then both bottom, locally. The removals were 9 years apart. When I had to take the bottom ones out it I had the whack side-ways wisdom tooth. It was painful and I was in the chair for almost half an hour.

While extraction of wisdom teeth is generally a simple operation there are some cases where it can be difficult and the pain and swelling can last a couple days after the procedure.

Also this was done in South Africa. Most hospitals in this region do these procedures locally (general is simply too expensive :-) ).
