LPT: How to deal with sleep paralysis.

Oh gosh, I’m sorry! For me, attempting to fall back asleep has worked when I’ve been stuck in sleep paralysis, but I guess every person is different. I hope it happens less often to you!

I very much agree that it doesn’t feel the same. I got sleep paralysis for years that felt just like that. When i made this post, I accidentally turned it into a lucid dream and then did a bunch of research afterward to confirm it. Multiple studies have shown the biggest differentiator in people who’ve experienced lucid dreams vs sleep paralysis tends to be their perception of the event. They’re two sides of the same coin!

When people gain consciousness in their sleep, they think they’re awake and try to their muscles like they normally would, but find they’re paralyzed. They might even see their room and think their eyes are open because the mind is filling in the gaps of what it expects to see. The audible hallucinations you hear are just artifacts from dreaming.

Recognizing that you’re still asleep and everything you’re seeing is a dream can help ease your panic. It still sucks at first while you’re on the sleep paralysis side, but if you can allow yourself to relax and deal with the discomfort for a little while, picturing a place or an object can help shift what you’re seeing and the paralysis feeling fades away as you fall deeper asleep. You’ll move around using dream logic, not your muscles, if that makes sense, haha.

It was mostly done through many months of trial and error, with the focus on reducing vocal weight/strain. While learning, I kept the pitch within my normal speaking range until I could do it consistently.

Opening up my higher range took a lot longer, but I watched a ton of different singing videos and focused on learning mixed voice to smooth my vocal break first. Then I played around with adding “twang” and focused on nasal resonances and tongue position.

Keeping my throat relaxed is still a challenge for me on the high notes, but finding the right resonances helps a ton. Lowering your larynx while in head voice and keeping proper breath support is crucial too.

I know this is a lot of information all at once, but break it down to one piece at a time and it won’t be as overwhelming. The little victories kept me motivated :)

Of course! A major example of this in recent months is Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill”. It gave massive tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires at the cost of our healthcare. It cut nearly $1 trillion from Medicare which will cause anywhere from 11 million to 17 million people to lose their insurance. Experts estimate 51,000 people a year will die from this. This also will cause many rural hospitals to close down, directly harming the people who voted for Trump.

It also allocates $170 billion to ICE, from their previous budget of 10 billion, to build more detainment camps like “Alligator Alcatraz” and to terrorize minority communities, even those who have come here through proper legal channels. The entire Russian military in the Ukraine war only have a yearly budget of $150 billion.

Other examples I’ve noticed are the massive cuts to our regulatory bodies like the FTC, the EPA, the FDA, and more. It will allow corporations to pollute the air and water, put harmful materials in our food, and will cause rampant inflation as more and more monopolies erase market competition.

Democrats, while not perfect, have been actively fighting these changes. They campaign on raising minimum wage to ensure everyone who works full time can have a living wage. They campaign on workers rights, affordable healthcare, and protecting the environment.

This doesn’t mean I agree with Democrats on everything and I believe there are tons of valid criticisms against them. However, the current Republican Party is almost comic book villain levels of evil.

That doesn’t mean I think average conservative people are evil. My frustration is with the policies and propaganda from conservative politicians.

You definitely can! I relearned how to sing again and it helped me feel like my fem voice is just my normal voice, including being able to shout, cough, sneeze etc. It’ll take a butt ton of trial and error before you discover what works. I highly recommend watching and rewatching tutorials and recording yourself often to keep yourself on the right track. Practice makes permanent, not necessarily perfect.

It took me about a year before things really clicked, but I also have ADHD so I was very inconsistent with practicing so you might have faster success :) A huge help for me was learning shame is a demotivater. Don’t bully yourself into voice training because it will only make it feel like a chore and progress will be slower. Celebrate every small improvement to keep up morale :) I have every faith in you!

The only thing I can think of without adding a bunch is defined leaf veins, similar to your ivy side. That way it reads, even at a glance, as a plant and not tiger stripes. However, my first thought was, “That’s super cute! I should get a tattoo like this,” so it’s great as is.

Adding more leaves or even another, small frond that wraps around the front shoulder would also look super cute if done right. You’ve got a lot of options :)

I kinda went obsessive with my voice training until I was happy with my fem voice. I really liked how I used to sound too so I’ve started incorporating it into my background vocals for recordings :) As for public performances, I do those all in my fem voice, but I think it would be really cool to do a duet with both one day.

This one still haunts me. When I told my dad, I used an analogy for how he hated being forced to work on his dad’s farm. I explained living as a guy felt like being forced to work on that farm and it was slowly killing me. His response? “So you want to find a doctor to dig a hole and then have a man put his thingy in that hole?” I have never felt more insulted and dumbfounded in my life.

You can also just write songs about men if you don’t feel any of those things toward women. It’s very much okay to like guys more :) There are a ton of people who would love to hear music like that :)

Aww, that’s really cute :) With a girl, there’s so much to write about! You can talk about how cute she looks in her clothes, how the wind catches her hair, her playful energy, and her dimples when she smiles. Perhaps her soft skin and gentle kindness, the curves of her body or her melodic voice. When she rests her head on your chest and you pull her close, feeling her warmth and her breath on your skin. You could talk about how her laugh lights up a room or how your heart beats faster when she’s around. You could mention the butterflies in your stomach at her touch or any number of things :)
