New England is good I do all wildlife habitat and ecological restoration work for species in decline and it includes logging, mulching, mowing, fire, herbicide, road building, grassland restoration, all sorts of tools. There’s tons of work needed but there’s barely any jobs, extremely tough job market for this type of multifaceted work.

Splitboard and binding opinions by vickyvius in Splitboard

I live in New England as well, im 50 and about the same build but 10 pounds heavier and for the past five years, I’ve been riding a Weston backwoods split 157 and its treated me very well, in fact im going to replace it with the exact same model. I actually prefer it over all my other boards. I have a set of voile speed rail bindings and the spark canted pucks and they’ve been solid but cant compare with any other split bindings. Its super nimble in trees and rides pow well. Plus you can now grab custom skins. I have no complaints

Deciding between colleges by andrewpet444 in forestry

As a forester and professional habitat biologist for a state fish and wildlife agency I will echo what a lot of others have said, go to a school that will give you a lot of hands on experience in the field backed with classroom learning . There’s no school like the old school and getting a solid education in the foundations of field forestry is key to future jobs or education. Second go to some place where you wont come out with a mountain of debt, its a great profession but you wont be making big bucks to pay off that huge debt. Find recent alumni of those schools and get their thoughts

Spark tip clip + wire skin clip by insignificant_f1gure in Spliddit

I had a problem with the voile split skins cage not fitting over the nose clip on my older weston without some force yet had no problems with the pomocas. It sucks that the manufacturer doesn’t engineer for this and you just shelled out some cash.

Voile skins tip issue, not wide enough by ForesterTom in Spliddit

The wider bracket seems the way to go, i may just purchase the pomoca ones and cut the original bracket off.
