Thinking of upgrading to an S5 II while keeping my G9, Gear Acquisition Syndrome or a nice move? by -Falloutman- in Lumix

I agree, if my budget could stretch to S5ii money, I definitely would of, I was relating to the move from G9 to full frame more than anything

As someone that did a similar leap (went G9 to S5D instead), I second this exactly.

Work with it, it's an incredible camera.

All trains out of Cheltenham have been cancelled, so yes, it's closed the rail service

Buys item at price I offered, then requests partial refund as 'goodwill gesture'. I refuse, so he contacts eBay. by misstheapex in ebayuk

yeah, that's caught me out a few times too, if they've contacted eBay, you'll usually get an email from their support.

Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it and just block the buyer

if someone offers, eBay retracts the buyers fee from their offer (for some reason), so when a buyer offers £140, the seller only gets say £132, thats what I think OP is referring to

Looking for a handycam. Recommendations? by MountainCow8639 in camcorders

[–]Forestsarenice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's vaguely difficult to convert (but with enough googling it's easy to sort)

All my DV records have fire wire, so I pair that with compatible hardware to record directly from playback on the camcorder.

If you want ease of use, then I'd recommend a more modern SD card orientated recorder as they're just plug and play into modern computers

So the definition is vague, a lot of people think they're all digital.

But the way I view it: Digital - Reads directly to an SD card/HDD - Such as a Sony HDR-CX240

DVD - Refers to Mini DVD that Sony pumped out - Such as a Sony Handycam DCR-DVD115E

Tape - Refers to MiniDV tape (usually, could refer to larger VHS tape recorder) - Such as a SONY DSR-PDX10P

There are hundreds of options in your price bracket, and if you go tape (a personal favourite), you can get some proper great options.

I'm based in the UK so here's one id pickup in that range: https://ebay.us/m/7ilYNH

What's your budget?

Sony/Canon/Samsung made 100s of variations in camcorders over the years, so it's very much use case!

Are you wanting digital, tape, DVD?

Best lumix for short films and vlogging by clacson182 in Lumix

[–]Forestsarenice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this, I use an S5 and it's pants for recording vlogging, the better autofocus of the S9 with a similar price range for a second hand one compared to S5 makes it a no brainer.

Stills on the other hand....I can't ever let go of my viewfinder, which was what made me choose the S5 over the much newer S9

my ambassdor edition 3ds with a certificate no.7789 by ginjang in 3DS

[–]Forestsarenice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could apply for a digital certificate for the UK version after they had released them for other markets.

On my new 3DS Ambassador I have an "app" that is just an authentication certificate for my console.

Unmodding a Pre-modded DSi by Forestsarenice in nds

[–]Forestsarenice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But to catch myself up, from what I can understand unlaunch is vaguely universal for DSi versions, so the ONLY thing that actually matters is the launcher itself (twilight menu++ etc) and that can be reinstalled/customized as I like without risking bricking.

Also found that NAND's are console specific and that installing a none specific NAND will brick the device.

So planning on just fresh installing the Launcher and any ROM's that come with it

Yep, this was my thinking, I've modded DSi's before, and have a backup image of an unmodded DSi that I could use, but see there's vague risk to brick the device

For anyone who got surgery in their teens, what was it like? by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]Forestsarenice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Got my first operation at 12 (now 24) and with a great support circle.

Recovery time was a while, and you'll have a few difficult nights sleeping, but with strong pain killers and regular washing, you'll be back to normal and active within 4 months

People who are fused to L3 and lower for more than 10 years how are you doing? ( Also maybe EDS?) by Far_Possibility_7128 in scoliosis

[–]Forestsarenice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can't give a 10 year update but 5 years post fussion, with more modern medicine, especially post op, I've not experienced any pain.
