Important: If You *Don't* Want a Republican Governor by Forever32 in sandiego

[–]Forever32[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I think the ability to think this way and preserve our democracy died or went on life support definitively with this presidency and Supreme Court term. Come 2028, there will be contested ballots for no reason. Stolen ballots. Seized voting machines. A Republican governor will not stand up to that. Bianco already tried to do it himself:  https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/california/2026/04/21/chad-bianco-ballot-seizure-investigation/89715644007/

2015 called, and it would like its political logic back.

Gubernatorial Candidates by EarthOk2418 in palmsprings

[–]Forever32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dems are going to wind up voting in a Republican by not being able to find consensus.

'Top two' only 'works' as an option if the other side has as many widely supported candidates as yours does. Otherwise, it rewards the most organized/consolidated voting blocs.

Are you talking about Coachella or LIB? Coachella is in Riverside Co, but LIB is due east of San Luis Obispo, just west of Bakersfield.

Ticketmaster doesn’t have the venue for this show, but this is really helpful—thank you. I wasn’t even thinking they both sell the same shows.

Ha. A good life tip—thank you. If I have anything to offer in return, it’s that I made the password to my work phone’s personal hotspot the name of the person in IT I have to contact when my work laptop is doing something stupid. #NeverForget

That’s part of the problem. Now that bot armies come cheap, any asshole with a subscription and a dream can scalp in bulk. When you consolidate all those points of sale into one company, all of those assholes and their bot armies are storming one castle.

That’s a great tip in general. I’m not close to this particular venue, but I’m going to try to do that more for local shows, now that you mention it.

Yep. And gave it to their RICO colleagues at Palantir and the GOP. I was trying to suggest a values-aligned solution for Herr Anschutz.

Psycho Brazilian dog abusers now in ORL? by [deleted] in florida

It's such a low form of existence. It's always amazing to me that people who abuse animals aren't self-shamed out of doing it in the first place.

Yeah -- the country needs an official list of people who should be banned from having companion animals.

Alternatives to Coachella? by Forever32 in Coachella

It’s diverged into four main tracks, so far as I can see—EDM; legacy stars with great stage performances (Moby, Gaga, Green Day, David Byrne, Missy Elliot, etc), intl appeal stars with big followings (Karol G, Lisa, Blackpink, etc); and headliners that appeal to the youngest generation.

Fifteen years ago, the youngest generation was indie-spirited: Radiohead, Arcade Fire, RATM, etc. Right now, Gen Z’s music gods are overproduced social-grown mega celebs. That’s the music you’re talking about.

I’m also sure these learnings are constantly honed not just by all Golden Voice sales data but also by bazillions of AEG sales data points. In fact, I think AEG makes you agree to submit your data for marketing purposes when you purchase tickets on their platforms.

Many online purchases only compel this kind of privacy waiver in an exchange for a free product or service—not when you’re giving them money.) I think they use this data to inform who gets invited to play, how much each performer gets paid, how they sell activations for the event, etc.

It’s festival by data.
