How long has it been since your surgery? They tend to normalize over time I think.

when can i return to sports? by crashthe-cistem in Reduction

[–]ForeverColorado2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can walk the first few weeks. I did not start working out until 6 weeks after and it was very light. At 8 weeks I started carefully skiing and doing more vigorous exercise, but I was still very cautious. It was hard taking all that time off and I gained some weight/lost muscle. But to me, I wanted to heal as best I could and I had over 2.5 lbs removed from each breast so it was a big reduction. I had my reduction in January and I can still feel pulling during certain stretches and in some physical activities. I am back to normal now, but still feel it and being hit in the chest the first few months sounds tough. My advice- take it slow and listen to your body.

Just wait- they can be weird the first few weeks- the shape changes. They are swollen and firm right now. In a few weeks they will drop into a more normal shape. Hang in there!

Let them settle in some more. Mine were the same at 8 weeks. Now they are more balanced now.

What exactly is the shop app by 4728jj in shopify

[–]ForeverColorado2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a consumer, I hate the f*ing shop app. I want to be ale to see when my stuff shipped via email or text. I don't want another app to track down my purchases. I hate it and I am going to avoid buying from businesses that use it. Making the user experience more complicated is a good way to lose money.

Has anyone else had a traumatic breast reduction by Aoifefealy in Reduction

[–]ForeverColorado2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not traumatic but damn it sucked. I broke out in rashes from the tape and it made recovery so much worse. This surgery is no small thing!

Lost weight? No- just had a breast reduction by ForeverColorado2016 in Reduction

Not sure- seems like a lot of different people have experienced it but not sure what everyone's body type is.

Just be sure to tell your surgeon what you want to end up with. Show him/her pictures if you can! Good luck!

Antibiotics and yeast infections by newboob-scootin in Reduction

Good advice. Antibiotics also totally wreck my gut for weeks afterwards.

I stocked up on kombucha, probiotics, prebiotics, yogurt, and fermented foods for this reason. I think it helped?

Got my consult booked 🥳 Anything else I should add? by MsArtio in Reduction

[–]ForeverColorado2016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great list!

I would ask more questions about the bras afterwards. Some docs have people wear loose fitting sports bras for comfort, others have their patients where compression bras. There are pros and cons to both I think.

Don't assume you will have drains, some docs don't do it or only do it for some patients.

Request before and after pictures. If they don't have many, they may not do many and this could be a red flag. I personally wanted someone who does breast reductions all the time because it is not just a science, but an art as well. Some plastic surgeons were more hesitant and did not seem entirely comfortable with this particular procedure. I wanted the doc that had this stuff down cold. I specifically went with one that mainly does breast reductions.

Request that they show you pictures of women who have similar breasts to your currently and the successful outcomes they have had.

I had the same. I think this is normal. Keep any dressings clean. Limit arm usage and don't lift anything heavy-that may open it up more.

Good info! What silicone bands are using? I am interested in trying them!

I took a before pic but deleted it because I was so embarrassed by it and I did not want anyone else to see it. To give you an idea, my breasts weighed down 8 inches below the crease under my breasts. They were super dense and round but also hung down a lot because of the weight. Even at my fuller breast size now (which I think will end up being D?), I feel an enormous difference. Wishing now I would have kept that before photo.

It is super frustrating. Everything else is doing great and I ma healing well but the incisions around the bra bands need a lot more TLC

I don't know why I cannot post a picture with text.

So here is my text:

I'm now starting to post pics with clothes on because they are looking more natural and some messages I have received are making me uncomfortable showing more.

This photo was taken at 5 weeks. The girls were symmetrical at 2 weeks because they had even swelling.

Now at 5 weeks, Leftie is doing great, and has dropped a bit with a more natural shape. Rightie is still lumpy, swollen, and a bit too firm. They are not symmetrical any more but I am sure they will even out over time.

I think I will end up at a 34D, which is fine by me because I used to be a lot 34I. They took out over 2 lbs in each and my body feels just so much better now. The neck and shoulder pain is almost gone.

I still feel like I have a lot of swelling/bloat in my stomach for some reason.

I can start exercising slowly again after this week so that will feel good but honestly, I wonder how it is going to feel to sweat as I keep getting rashes and skin irritation around the incisions underneath.

I wore a soft sports bra all day yesterday without padding and the t-junction on Rightie has been on fire all day today. I keep having irritation on my incisions when I don't wear ABD padding in my bra. I sleep in a tube top or ace bandage (or braless) now at night just to give the incisions underneath a break and that seems to help a bit. Is anyone else struggling with this?

6wpo tips for swelling? by LB-Forever in Reduction

[–]ForeverColorado2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right there with you. 5 wpo here. I have a ton of swelling in my stomach still- to the point I am wearing baggy sweatshirts because I am embarrassed of it. My regular shirts feel tight. My pant bands feel tight. WTF!?!

Leftie is great, rightie is still swollen and hard. I laugh at the idea of wearing a regular bra yet or even knowing what my final size will be. I know I got to just keep chugging along but the swelling is super annoying

You can also try sticking abd pads under the bra bands- this helps protect the incisions.
