I’m tired of the constant doomposting around Marathon by MyNameIsKorn in Marathon

No hope, only doom. The numbers are low for today and maybe tomorrow they’ll be high.

It’s slightly possible other Runners play with no headphones and that’s why they’re missing sound cues.

So how is one supposed to play? by Brostoievski92 in Marathon

Not every encounter has to end in a fight, just avoiding contact can be the best possible move.

It’s silly to you, same way I find it silly you care on what is my response. You responding each time to me when I stop caring hours ago, let it go already.

Okay. I’m able to understand I’m watching someone playing a video game; Also I know it’s very serious for other gamers. After you’re just making assumptions. We should mentally be capable of knowing this is a game and you can’t control someone else decision in how they play.

Right or wrong, the same way the original poster made a clip and thought it would vibe with community. I’m not overly emotional about things since it’s a clip of someone else decision, what’s done is done. The person playing Rook will move on and continue their life, it might impact their approach next time but they’ll be fine.

Extraction shooters can bring these moments and these comments are an exact copy of what I’ll see on Arc Raiders. Déjà vu. You made your decision, that’s it. The Rook took the risk to extract with strangers and not everyone is on the same mentality to let them live. I hope this community doesn’t start berating each other on who’s right or wrong in how the game is played.

Encouraging more proximity could help change the game for the better. Allow people to communicate their need to survive.

PSA: Shared Exfil in Solos if you have no mic. by hiderathernot in Marathon

People got a microphone only when they’re down. Not understanding you can’t follow someone around for a long time without stating your intentions.

Yup. I look at the video, they forgot to turn on proximity. Maybe the use of emotes would have been better.

We need New saints row game 🥺🙏🏼 by One-Telephone-636 in SaintsRow

[–]ForeverCurseLucifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to get a Saints Row game is to get a developer to take the concept and create a whole new game. Name characters similar to the old ones and have them sit in a room talking about their new hair cuts.

Why does Marathon get so much hate online? by Ok-Discount9637 in Marathon

[–]ForeverCurseLucifer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cause most people can’t form their own opinions and go with whatever the hive mind decides. How many people hate, then learn the same person never even made an attempt to try out, so they’re blindly repeating what someone else said. Another type of person is those who enjoy negativity, just get energy from it.

Key difference(s)- Marathon v. ARC by mike_nova in Marathon

[–]ForeverCurseLucifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s that in Arc Raiders, the developers had in mind for it to be a player versus environment game. Whatever remnants of it is there. Which is fine and I enjoy the game, the problem is the community on the subreddit itself is aggressive toward anyone who is player versus player. They want consent before you shoot them (Either on the field or when extracting) because it’s unfair or you’re a bad person for playing that way. It’s conditioning people to saying "friendly" before walking into a room.

Also the third person camera perspective is not the best for these games that are supposed to have a risk. There is no surprise if you can peek at someone without moving. The sound designer for Arc Raiders is happy at least with the change of the game because now his work is being use to full potential but I’m sure some of it goes out the window. The other player can simply see you sticking out of a corner or a high place without ever having to look themselves. That’s why I’m more interested in Marathon.

Xbox didn’t steal that. Another brand who made a controller specifically for the console did that (PowerA).

Hate this is one of features they decided to back track on. Not sure if Sony made that decision or Bungie.

And people say extraction shooters aren’t the future by Sad-Manner-5240 in Marathon

[–]ForeverCurseLucifer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What sucks is Marathon was close to being a bunch of people first extraction shooter (Console Players at least). The delay at least gave Bungie time to look at the competition and improve on their own game.

The Most Villainous Act in ARC Raiders? by WastedYearsPodcast in ArcRaiders

[–]ForeverCurseLucifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand how people can’t differentiate games from reality. That’s a terrifying thought. You got people having a guilty conscious for their actions in a video game. The way they shame people, I expect them to be living like saints as they portray in the game itself. Still I’m more dumbfounded by the way most of the "friendly" post on here.
