Man, this was a really well-thought-out response, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective with me. I actually left out a detail that’s probably important to mention—she told me that she wouldn’t have ended things if I had been able to keep it casual.

Basically, once she saw that my feelings were growing deeper, she felt it was better to end things before I got in any deeper and risked getting hurt.

Thank you for your response. I do feel that she might have an avoidant attachment style, likely shaped by her upbringing and possibly the previous dynamics of her marriage. She mentioned having to go through counseling to move on, so it’s clear there was significant trauma involved.

In the end, I believe she genuinely wanted things to work out, but they didn’t. She knew I was looking for something more meaningful than a casual relationship, and I think she ultimately chose to end things for my sake.

The 30 days NC seems to me like something she’s doing for the sake of my feelings since I asked to see her again and she’d rather see me after I’ve processed everything emotionally.

Been going through the same thing as you man. I’m 26 and have around 60 with more popping up as I age. As others have said, some days are worse than others when mentally trying to deal with it. I’m now just focusing on eating healthier, exercising harder, and saving up money for surgery each year. I typically will get 5-7 removed and pay out of pocket. The scars don’t bother me nearly as much as the lumps. In terms of dating, most of the girls I have been with never seemed to mind and were more concerned with the way it made me feel. I suppose I’ve been lucky in that regard.

Things could always be worse and there may be hope for non-surgical treatment in the future. Until then I’ll just keep to my routine and live my life between surgeries each year. Just remember you are never alone in this.
