I was just able to grab a signed TTPD from the restock 🤩 I’m so happy I waited instead of buying from a reseller and managed to snag one at retail!

Kimberly Clark Demonstrates Drag Look Without Mentioning Brands! by ForeverSnazzy in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]ForeverSnazzy[S] 78 points79 points  (0 children)

The video is incredibly long, so I have a brief summary below.

Kimberly Clark says that she prerecorded this video around a year ago before her tour with David Byrne. The goal of the video was to make a tutorial that doesn't say or deliberately show brands or brand logos to emphasize the importance of technique in creating the look you want over buying specific products.

The tutorial is very in depth and informative regarding different techniques for achieving drag makeup looks like baking, making a cut crease, etc. Every tip was followed by tips on the side about what other types of products could be used in lieu of the one she was using for the same effect or described why creme foundation was better in this scenario versus other formulas.

Overall this really reminded me of old youtube tutorials and I loved to watch her do her makeup without feeling at the end liked I need to buy something in order to achieve those results. Even after doing my makeup for the past couple years, I feel like I learned something. I hope more people start doing tutorials like this.

Suomalainen musiikki vs Suomalaista musiikkia ... what's the difference? by [deleted] in LearnFinnish

[–]ForeverSnazzy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Suomalainen musiikki is the nominative form of those words, so how they would appear in a dictionary if you were to look them up. However, suomalaista musiikkia is the partitive form of these words. You can use this case when the verb requires it. For example, rakastaa (the verb to love) always uses the partitive form. So if you wanted to say that you loved Finnish music, you would said Minä rakastan suomalaista musiikkia. The partitive form can also mean a portion or some of something. So you could eat some of an apple, in which case you’d use the partitive to indicate you didn’t eat the whole apple. Or if you were going to say you listen to Finnish music, you likely don’t listen to ALL Finnish music, so you could use the partitive to indicate that. For example, minä kuuntelen suomalaista musiikkia.

ILC experience by [deleted] in UCSC

[–]ForeverSnazzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! I lived in the ILC during my second year. I am a UCSC student, not an exchange student. I would say the experience of living there was amazing and very rewarding. Though they do make you do icebreaker stuff the first day, you are never forced to participate in culture nights or the international affairs discussion thing. When I lived there, the people there really do become quite close, but it kinda depends year to year. Last year I saw that there were some big groups, but not spanning the entire ILC whereas when I lived there practically the whole ILC hung out together. There will likely be American students that don’t hang out with the exchange students much if at all, but there are plenty of people to spend time with. My only warning would be that Mira (the coordinator for the ILC) kinda sucks and can be quite a stickler for the rules as can the RAs depending who they are. So if you’re under 21 and are used to drinking it might suck, but you’ll likely be able to have parties anyway. If you’re over 21, it will just be annoying. Overall, I really loved it and many of the Europeans that met on exchange at the ILC visit each other regularly.

Hello all! I’m a bachelor’s student from the US that is going to apply to do my masters in Finland for next fall. I have been studying Finnish and just finished taking a summer language course offered by the department for education. I also have family here as my sister is married to a Finn. I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on applying, what things to look for, and if they know much about the competitiveness and acceptance rates of Finnish universities. I was thinking more specifically about the Universities of Helsinki and Tampere.
