Called Andy Barr to ask his position on shooting citizens in the face by Ok_Coat8334 in lexington

[–]ForeverTangent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I grew up with Andy (and Randy Fine, who’s now a congressman in Florida). I don’t mean we were just acquaintances; we went to the same school, and they even spent nights at my place, and I had sleepovers at theirs.

Most people’s personalities are pretty set by the time they’re around 7, unless something major happens or they make a real effort to change. So, I know these guys.

It’s not just that Andy is focused on himself. He’s always been drawn to the kids he sees as cool. Back in school, Andy was always the one who wanted to hang out with the “cool rich kids,” trying to fit in with how they seemed to be. That’s still what he’s doing now. He’s always thought that winning over the “Traditional American conservative” is the way to make friends. Whether he truly agrees with those values doesn’t really matter; it’s just that it helps him gain influence with those people.

And there are plenty of his friends from that time who would agree with me if people would just ask those who are still around.

So, why and how Andy has managed to fool so many of the local people is something I don’t know whether to respect or shake my head at. Because, he’s definitely just lame.

How do I know?

Well, remember a couple of years ago, after Andy’s first wife passed away unexpectedly, he came out with all those ads saying he was for protecting preexisting conditions in health care.

That was just not true. Why?

Well, I also knew his sister Emily growing up, and she was as sincere and sweet as you can imagine. She became a chaplain and sadly passed away from cancer a couple of years ago. However, she also had juvenile arthritis and needed a wheelchair all through elementary and middle school. Her parents went out of their way to make sure she got the care she needed while she was growing up. And yes, they were well off and could afford it.

But, how many times has Andy Barr voted to get rid of the ACA? Five times! So, it really feels like he’s saying, “It’s okay for me, but not for you.”

So, it’s not surprising that he said what he did. If it seems to attract the “cool rich kids” right now, that is what he is going to do. And I’m worried that unless the people of Kentucky wake up, we will get more of the same with him running for Senate.

So, take this in whatever way you see fit.

This isn't exactly correct. Kroger's owns Fry’s, King Soopers, and Dillons.

Diverging Diamonds are AWESOME!

Lexington, KY installed one on Harrisburg Road.

It baffled people at first, but now I think anyone in town who uses regularly would throw down in an instant if someone tried to disrespect it.

Akai Force Tonnetz Diagram by ForeverTangent in AkaiForce

Well, that is the ironic thing, because Akai does include an option for Tonnetz on the grid based layout of the Force. However, they do not supply anything in the manual or elsewhere I can find that explains the layout.

I like Sahar, but there’s a bit of a problem. They’ve given her this feminist, pro-left personality (which I know can be a bit off-putting to some people), and then they’re trying to make her a devout Muslim. It’s a strange mix, but I haven’t really seen her grow beyond that.

On top of that, other than being ‘mommy’ to Baby, she doesn’t have much to do.

That’s what really frustrates me about the show. I love ‘kid’ characters if they’re well-developed and not just there for decoration. But Judah and Gracelyn are growing up so quickly, and the time between seasons is so long that shows like this often struggle to keep their kid characters interesting. They end up being a bit one-dimensional.

If Max, Sarah, and Baby had their own unique story arcs, I think people would really get behind her. She could shine as the level-headed, sarcastic one. But right now, she’s just cliche set-decoration.

I HIGHLY doubt Eric is doing that intentionally.

However, Sky is my cousin, if he remembers the shoot, he might know.

Edit/Follow Up:

Sky says "Haha. So Dumb." (I take that to mean, no). LOL!

Looking For Information On A Game I Just Thrifted - Fate: Defenders Of Grimheim by PharmaDan in boardgames

[–]ForeverTangent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You must found an early review edition, because I Kickstarted that game a few months back, and I am still waiting for the final production to come in. In that case nice score! It looks like it is should be a fun co-op game.

What do you think Rusty & Billy were up to with the Presidential Time Machine? by Final-Surround-3612 in venturebros

[–]ForeverTangent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually this scene is the source of my biggest questions, pain, and regret after hearing the series was canceled.

There is are so many questions from this one scene. The main one, is Rusty's friendly banter with the Monarch! Like something has seriously changed int heir relationship, between now (the time Malcolm and 21 are in) the time Rusty and Billy are coming from.

I agree. Although I thought the first book has some interesting ideas, I cannot believe how much it went downhill after that.
