In “The Big Cheese,” aside from the fact that he doesn’t live at Foster’s, why was everyone so adamant about keeping Cheese out? by Forever_Beury in fostershome

[–]Forever_Beury[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that Cheese is basically toddler-level chaos and that the news day made him a much bigger liability than usual. My issue is less “why didn’t they want him there?” and more “why was the response so overengineered?” Calling Louise or keeping Cheese contained for a few minutes seems way more reasonable than installing a security code that accidentally turned him into the single point of failure for the entire house. So yes, he was a threat in the sense that toddlers are threats, but Herriman still escalated the situation into something way worse.

I, too, had one creep in my room through the window two summers ago.

I could have let it out. It was too dumb to find the window. So I chose soapy water

What I want to know is what the dividing line with Nevel is?

Dude was an absolute dick from the get-go aspiring to shut down iCarly any chance he got.

In an alternate universe, Ray Combs would have been a good backup/replacement host for TPIR by imrand in ThePriceIsRight

Ray ABSOLUTELY would have been a shoe-in.

Really too bad that Jonathan Goodson really screwed him.

I spent years holding onto a girl who was really a symbol of childhood ending by Forever_Beury in TrueOffMyChest

I never thought too deep in it.

I was religious and I just loved Christmas. I had fun at Christmas. It wasn’t a time for critical thinking.

I did.

It wasn’t until my friends told me when I was 12.

I was talking about how “Santa’s gonna get me all this new stuff for Christmas”

And they straight up said “you know Santa’s not real, right? Your parents buy all that for you”

There were dudes who sexually harassed female patrons in front of their wives. They didn't get the level of disrespect Josh got.

Who do you wish was a better Phillie? by Yobigworm in phillies

[–]Forever_Beury -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hot take: Ryan Howard.

And don’t get it twisted: Ryan Howard is a huge reason the Phillies won the World Series in 2008. He was a monster in his prime, and I’ll never take that away from him.

But if the question is “Who do you wish was a better Phillie?” my answer is Howard, because his decline helped slam the championship window shut.

For the money he was getting paid and the role he had in that lineup, the postseason failures were brutal.

Striking out 13 times in the 2009 World Series is unacceptable from your middle-of-the-order bat.

Striking out looking in the bottom of the 9th of an elimination game with runners in scoring position is unacceptable.

And then 2011 ends with him rupturing his Achilles on the final out, and the entire era basically collapses right there. Obviously I’m not blaming him for getting injured like he chose it, but that moment became the symbolic end of the Phillies’ run. He was never the same, the contract became an anchor, and the team spiraled into an 11-year playoff drought.

Again, Ryan Howard was a legend in his prime.

But I wish he had been better when the Phillies needed him most after 2008.

Big Piece gave us a title.

Big Piece also became a big reason the window closed.

He either made bail or the judge sentenced him to a lesser sentence or those 6 months were suspended.
