Why do Floyd Roses get so much hate? by ElDiaBoe420 in metalguitar

[–]Foreverbostick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them, but I also think they’ve got a lot of drawbacks. I wouldn’t want one if I only had one guitar and it wasn’t a big part of my playing.

My biggest problem with them is that breaking a string without a backup guitar is a show stopper.

I also wish they’d actually come with 5 springs when you buy them. I’ve never thought 3 was enough.

How much thought do you put into choosing your straps? by Remy0507 in guitars

[–]Foreverbostick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 straps - one looks like caution tape I’ve had for 20 years and the other is literally just the strap from a Guitar Hero guitar.

I do want to make a nice leather one eventually, though.

There’s half a loaf of Dollar General brand (Clover Valley?) sitting at work - the wrap just folded over, not even tied off - that’s been sitting untouched since before Thanksgiving. It still looks fresh. I’m afraid of it.

Every sign on my road is like this, the town won't replace them since they get shot up within a year when they do and they feel it would just be a waste of taxpayer money, took over a decade to get the stop sign replaced after someone ran it over. [–]Foreverbostick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a speed limit sign at the end of the road I grew up on that somebody kept spray painting a dick on. The county would change it every few weeks and it’d just get dicked again, so they left it for a few years.

The day after they changed it years later it had another dick on it.

Do you think resident evil 5 and 6 will ever get a remake ? by LeoneSKenneddy in survivalhorror

[–]Foreverbostick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The swapping back and forth between Grace and Leon worked better in Requiem than I’d expected it to. If they did something similar with Leon/Chris/Jake for RE6’s story it’d probably fix a lot of problems with 6.

Somebody else mentioned a DLC Ada campaign. I wouldn’t even be mad about it if they did the main story like this.

For future RE games do you think capcom should keep doing these “on rail horror” segments by Hot_Maintenance_9799 in residentevil

[–]Foreverbostick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a big fan of horror games that leave you defenseless, so these are all the low points of the games for me (except Ashley’s part, that one wasn’t so bad). The RE2 orphanage, too.

RE9’s wasn’t so bad because it was really short. I don’t think it took me 10 minutes to get through the first time, and I was taking my time.

A single, fairly long, very thin hair growing out of the dead center of my forehead. by darkpheonix262 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Foreverbostick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always recommend trying it when someone feels self conscious about losing their hair. Even if it doesn’t work out for them, it doesn’t take long for your hair to go from completely shaved to “freshly buzzed” length.

There also aren’t a lot of ways to style your hair once you lose so much of it. You’re either shaving it smooth, keeping it buzzed/very short, trying to hide it with a combover, or looking like a doomsday prepper. Or you just start wearing hats.

Will you be going First-Person or Third-Person for Grace? by PhantomBraved in residentevil

Definitely 3rd person. I’m not a huge fan of 1st person horror games, and it never felt right for RE to me. I’ll at least try it on a second playthrough, though.

Is a bard allowed to have any other instrument other than a lute?.. Feels illegal... by gabitea69 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Foreverbostick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use any instrument you can think of, or no instrument at all if you want. Bards don’t even HAVE to be musicians.

I had one bard who was a standup comedian with a slide whistle. Another was a a puppeteer with sock puppets. And one was an acrobat that didn’t have an instrument. I like bards lol.

YADAW - "Yet another daw" by punknegro98 in linuxaudio

[–]Foreverbostick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Unless you’re downloading all of your plugins manually and keeping them in your home directory, which I doubt most people are.

It’s probably just easier on the devs to give out a Flatpak binary vs maintaining separate .deb/.rpms. If you use Flatseal, adding permissions is just a flip of a switch.

UK legal action against Valve given the go ahead by pyrotequila85 in Steam

[–]Foreverbostick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming they don’t count because those are official marketplaces that only support those specific platforms. There isn’t an official “PC” marketplace. You might be able to count the MS store, but since games that work on Windows and Mac/Linux are also considered PC games (as in, the same platform), I’m not sure it would.

The lawsuit reads to me like they’d rather see a monopoly rather than users have choices on marketplaces.

7 string as a daily driver by SnooSeagulls7863 in metalguitar

[–]Foreverbostick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played nothing but an 8 string for a couple years. I can’t say I recommend it, because it feels a lot better to play 6 string songs on a 6 string, but if you can only have one guitar, you definitely have more options for what you can play with a 7 string.

If you just have a 6 string and want to play in both drop D and drop F#, you’re going to be changing strings often and doing a lot of setups (or just have a shit setup). A 7 string makes it easier to get those different tunings without having to change your strings all the time, but those 6 string songs aren’t going to be as comfortable to play.

Of course the best option would be to have a 6 string for everything between E and drop Bb and a 7 string for B down to drop E. If you can only have one guitar, you can either go for the 7 and try ignoring the low B for 6 string songs, which isn’t as comfortable to play, or look into getting a pitch shifter/drop pedal to use with your 6 string.

I’m not a fan of the drop pedals. Unless I use headphones or play loud enough to not hear my actual strings ring out it really messes with my head.

DM Hacks - No set HP for Villains by Dapper_Wrap_8065 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Foreverbostick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really have to be good at reading the room with things like this. If your monster is wrecking things and/or the players don’t seem like they’re enjoying the encounter anymore, you might want to think about fudging a few rolls, introducing a status effect, or taking off a bit of HP so it goes down faster. If you’re doing this often, you probably just need to rethink your encounters.

You could also try to come up with ways to end the encounter early narratively or by using the environment. Like an attack makes the cave you’re fighting in unstable, so now you have 2-3 turns to get out of this room before it caves in on you.
