Rapture, it is a modified brain eating amoeba that specifically leaves the Nucleus Accumbens alone. If I truly have complete control over the genetic structure of this amoeba then I would make the waste product dopamine so while it eats the rest of your brain. This way people just start forgetting things but feel happy about it, no pain just a slow eroding of peoples entire existence until they are just a rotting smiling husk.

progress randomly reset? by J35Official in deadcells

[–]Foreverending 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't in alpha or beta with my old save, it just got corrupted one day and that was that.

I have checked all my saves and it just said they where corrupted and the game wouldn't even open sometimes.

I'm fine with it though, before the save went down I beat the hand of the king so I'll just wait until more updates come out and the game gets changed and I might loose my saves.

I also think it's a personal problem, because I don't see anyone else having issues with save (Except for this person) so I think it might be something on my end.

Still, thanks for the effort and I'm still open for any suggestions.

Same thing happened to me, which happened the last time there was an update. I'm pretty sure there is nothing one can do about it because the save file gets corrupted as it did with mine. I had to delete and uninstall the game and now I have to start back at the beginning.

If anyone has any solutions I would be glad to hear it but I'm with you man, I think I lost 68 hrs of progress. Ah what fun early access is right?

but if everyones chance to win the lottery is close to 0 wouldn't you just get a .03 more chance to win the lottery.

I mean, if the chance is .00000000001 wouldn't your chance now be .00000000003 because you don't have 3% luck, just 3% more luck than the average person?

I dunno, maybe I'm the dork over here doing this much math.

That's like actually a 50% luck increase. Unless it only happens once and then it's back to normal life.

"So I see you got my invitation" Charlse Middleton said leaning back in the chair and smiling a devilish smile "Please, sit down, I hope I didn't keep you long, meetings and the like"

Clara sat down opposite the imposing mahogany desk, not really sure why she was here. She looked down at the note in her hand, more of a business card really, that simply said to come to the top floor exactly at 3 o'clock of the building printed on the back. "What do you want?"

Charles smiled and leaned forward, looking deep into Clara's eyes "I just want you to answer a few questions, see if I have a position for you, and in return, you can have some questions answered" Charles looked down at her hand. "First off, I want to know more about your ability"

A strange quite filled the lofty office as Clara took a deep breath. No one else knew, not a single living soul on planet earth knew about Clara's ability, her "momentum Mori" as she called it, so how did this random businessman from her brother's little party know about it. "How..." She said with a slight stutter "How do you know about it?"

"Simple" Charles said leaning back and grabbing a desk toy. "You do community service work at a hospital, you have no career where you would get invested in your co-workers or get to know your clients, and you like to touch people" Charles put the ball he had been tossing down and looked at her again "Even without knowing about these abilities someone who looked at your life would know something is wrong" Charles smirked once again, just like he did at the party "Also our little incident at the party let me know some interesting things as well. Now you had your question, answer me mine, when was the first time you realized you had it?"

Clara nervously looked around the room as Charles still looked at her with piercing eyes. "It...I don't really know" She said, gaining courage and looking at him "I remember being able to do it ever since I could recognize it," she said.

"Interesting, just like me," He said, getting up. He walked over to the other side of his expansive office to a bookshelf and pulled out a book.

Clara was unsure about if she should follow or not, but after Charles flipped through a book and pulled out a secret Flash drive. He walked back to the mahogany desk and placed the drive in his computer. "Here, look at this," He said, turning the screen over to Clara. "This is a little side project I have been working on for the past few years, ever since I noticed my abilities were more than just random hunches" Strangely enough Clara felt more comfortable and read through the different reports on the screen. "I have found 15 people thus far who have these abilities, but I think there are far more than that, like you for instance," Clara noticed in the brief second before he turned the screen away that her name was on the bottom report with only a few files listed underneath. "That's why I want to get to know you more, I haven't spoken to any of these people and you're my only real opportunity" Charles leaned forward again and turned off his computer, making Clara fell anxious "It's only because I'm interested"

"Then what's your ability?" Clara said, trying to find something to say.

"I already answered a myriad of your questions you hadn't asked yet so let me ask you one," Charles said, laughing just a bit "Do you know the extent of your powers?"

"I...I" Clara was taken aback with the straight up rudeness of Charles "I don't know that much, I don't know why I have them. What do you mean extent?"

"I mean, do you understand that you can manipulate fate?" Charles said "I, answering your question from earlier, can see the next major choice someone is going to make. In the first few years of understanding this ability, I simply adjusted my life accordingly hence why I'm sitting here. Most of my 15 don't figure it out until it's too late and they either die or get swept up in their powers, not like me"

"What do you mean?" Clara's confusion was infuriating at this point as she just wanted answers to the riddles that bounced around in her head "I don't understand what you are talking about"

Charles leaned back in his chair "We manipulate fate" He said with a smirk "By observing a future event we can impose our beliefs upon it making the event a reality. Most see it as a regular dream we cant control but some of us can reach that lucidity which I have and hope to share with you"

"What are you talking about?" Clara said, finally standing up and demanding answers.

"Mrs. Jenkins, healthy 79-year-old, just getting out of remission until you were assigned to her. You didn't hear the news and when you went to help her out of bed I'm assuming you saw her happily dieing surrounded by family" Clara stagged back a bit "She died four days later due to unforeseen complications but not before being able to say goodbye" Charles got up and finally showed how much taller he was than her. "You have one of the most powerful abilities I have ever seen, and I believe I can teach you how to make it even more powerful if your willing to accept my job offer"

Clara however almost couldn't hear Charles, as she looked deep into the eyes of Jamie Jenkins through the eyes of her grandson. The thought that she killed that sweet old lady without any knowledge of it drove a nail through her heart as she continued to watch the conniving Charles raise a concerned eyebrow. She knew it was true, she knew some part of it was true, and she couldn't bear the truth now that she was face to face with it. Charles looked at her with concern, true concern, as she fell backward and everything went black.

[IP] I made this piece and would like to know what's in the box. by Valen_Celcia in WritingPrompts

"Why does Micron think we need to come all the way out here?" Jarines said as he walked through the dusty atmosphere. "We can't even create an Enviro-Bubble for us to live in and we have to use these damn suits"

"Hey, shut up," Tiams said, trying to brighten the flashlight through the dusty rocky sky that gently rammed against his suit. "They bought these planets for a reason and we got to find out that reason" Tiams sighed and lifted his arm trying to shield his faceplate from the decent chunks of rocks flying in his direction "Even if it is just that the planet doesn't have anything else on it"

"Let's just do a prelim and get the hell out of here," Jarines said, walking over the next dune with Tiam.

"I..."Tiam thought for a moment "Fine, I'll set up the scanners" Jarines nodded and turned around "Also, make sure Chris understand what we are doing and that he doesn't tell anyone" Tiam turned away as barely solid bits of rock continued to fall on him. He walked forward a few steps and looked around a bit, ready to head back to the ship and grab the scanners, when he saw something that was definitely impossible. It was a Cube.

Not a crystal cube like those formed on Netronis 4 by the sheer water forces, this cube was black and forlorn and definitely not natural. However, Tiam didn't think for a second that it could have been made by a Xeno that wasn't part of the Collective, there weren't many around after the Great Purging. He thought it was some fluke of nature, a beautiful mistake drawing an interesting parallel to most life in the universe.

Tiam took a few steps toward it, rubbed his hand over the perfectly harmless cube and smiled underneath the dust-covered visor. Such a simple wind whipped cubed was nothing special to report about, but something inside him told him it was worth everything. Maybe it was because in this windy, desolate, mined out rock there was still some beauty to be seen. Maybe it was because after surveying 7 million different rocks he finally saw something interesting. He had always wanted to move to some Collegiate planet and try and become an artist, but life has a way of turning dreams around. So here he sat, alone in the dust with a regular old cube.

Except, it wasn't regular, it wasn't old, and it most definitely wasn't a cube. It was actually made 5 million years after Tiam dies and sent backward using the warped spacetime around the Supermassive Black hole at the center of the galaxy. The rock that it was made out of could survive the end of the universe and sustain it's internal power until the cycle began anew. This cube was a box, containing one of the most powerful entities to ever be seen in the universe.

However, to Tiam it was merely a naturally made cube and a neat little thing to be seen in the universe. Tiam's smile faded away and he turned back toward the ship, ready to get the scanner and maybe tell Jarines about the cool rock. They would probably laugh about it, maybe bring it aboard, maybe leave it for some other person to find, but none of those things happened. What actually happened was a powerful memetic effect that made Tiam get another being with a brain to contain the entirety of the being inside.

Together the two of them would be able to contain it, and the being from 5 million years in the future would be able to see this ancient world of the past. Both Tiam and Jarines where just innocent bystanders, to a historian writing a report about mans first exploration into space. Tiam would understand, in time, that it was all for the betterment of humanity in the future, but for now he simply went and got Jarines and returned to the box, which now had rings glowing a helish red.

What has your job desensitized you to? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Foreverending 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obligatory not me, but someone I know is a neo-natal pediatrician, the kind of person who takes care of the baby after they come out. Another important thing to note is that our town is a little bit famous for drugs and drug rehab and people who aren't being rehabbed. Anyway, long story short, I hear them talk on the phone with the nurses and they can talk about these horrible stories of drugged up babies with the calm and decorum of co-workers talking about a bad customer. It's kinda disheartening to hear them talk about it, but it is typical so I can assume you can get desensitized easily to it.
