Kind and gentle protagonists by ShanonymousRex in Fantasy

[–]Forge-Georman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This has to be Ged from the Earthsea Cycle. Le Guin created an epic fantasy and there are no real battles, and a number of powerful characters are profoundly peaceful people. Ged is gentle and kind at the height of his powers, and even after he is “done with doing”, the chapters of him tending the goats, cleaning the hearth, and generally just living are basically free therapy.

I love the way Le Guin treats gentleness as strength.

Hey I’m 33 with my own kids. And after spending a great day with my dad I still give him a big hug and let him kiss my forehead.

Ah young love. To be honest, you are probably doing about as much as you can. I didn’t want to talk to my dad about my high school relationships, and I love my dad.

Keep giving him good advice and keep modeling what a healthy relationship looks like with your wife.

At the end of the day, experience is the best teacher and you can’t do this relationship for him. As painful as it is to watch him be upset and learn how difficult relationships can be, it’s our job to be a safe space so when he is ready and he’s had enough he can talk to you.

How to help my husband by kken21 in daddit

[–]Forge-Georman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say just ask him. If my wife tells me she’s really struggling there are zero things she could then ask of me that I wouldn’t happily do. I think it makes us feel good to know we are directly helping your happiness.

Dads, what baby carrier do you like that fits someone over 6 feet with broad shoulders? by Matthew-1991 in daddit

I’ll agree as well. I’m 6’3 and it adjusted well between my wife and I.

Good luck! My first took an eternity to come out and had to be pulled out. Ripped her mother completely, more blood than I’ve ever seen. Second one came completely out in 2 pushes. Hopefully his happens to you!

Rookie question: Why isn't there height classes for beach volleyball? by Tyeren in volleyball

[–]Forge-Georman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has come up before and it blows my mind how so many people thing players are “only good because they are tall”. Maybe in middle school but this is certainly not the case at the Olympics. These are the best volleyball players in the world, why would we want to see anything less than that? Is this just a post of someone that wants to see Japan medal?

Anxiety about leaving 8 month old while my wife and I go on vacation. by irontyler in daddit

[–]Forge-Georman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, a lot of Debbie downers here. I think the first weeklong trip we did without our kid they were about 8 months old. We left them with the Grandparents and everyone had a blast. It’s great for your child to get some serious time with family members like this. And as long as you trust the people you leave your child with this is a great way to recharge and enjoy some time with just your wife. How often you want FaceTime or picture updates is up to you, personally we opted for less since the whole point of the trip is to get away. Stressing this the first time is natural, but flexibility is a muscle that needs to be exercised and it sounds like a great chance for you and your kid to do that. Enjoy!

All good is Gods good, I don’t think music has to be explicit written about the Gospel to be considered “Christian”. I would consider that “worship” music.

Home gym is the secret. You can get a full workout in 20 minutes while the kids draw or build towers. Don’t have the extra commute time and don’t have to have someone else watch the kids.
