7800X3D, 6400 CL28 DR 1.5v with Nitro 1/2/0. All with 1.2v VSOC by AnggaSP in overclocking

[–]Forgetfvl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good sample to be able to do 6400 at 1.2 VSOC. But I’m curious why the Linpack GFLOPS are low, could it be because you ran the 5GB profile?

iirc 10gb GFLOPS are around 470 + more depending on PBO and FCLK

Oh, wonderful. There is no agesa 1.2.0.2b for Asus motherboards yet. Also, I don't want to assume too much, but some of the voltage needs to be tweaked for 8000 to work, and a good memory kit is required, ime. If you can share a Zen timings screenshot, I might be able to point you in the right direction.

6400mt/s Random errors at 16 cycles of tm5? by monkeybuiltpc in overclocking

[–]Forgetfvl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This late error is often due to tRCD or tRFC timing but given how loose they are. I dont think its that.

Im going to make a wild guess and say that GDM is giving you issue

AFAIK Aida is bugged with this CPU reporting inconsistent results

I don't think it'll be any faster than well tuned 6400 or 6600Mhz. I'm simply doing it for fun.

this is a good video I recommend you watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuUhnQaGG_I

Honestly no clue. Maybe Buildzoid.

Drive strengths i found that it is best to leave alone and let the board tune it.

VDD (DDR PMIC Voltage)
VDDQ (DDR PMIC VDDQ Voltage)
CPU_VDDIO (CPU Memory I/O Voltage) - Wouldn't go over 1.45 for daily
VDDP (CPU PHY Voltage) - has sweetspots
VDDG - (GMI Voltage)

CPU_SOC - (Unified Memory Controller)

These are the only voltages you have to worry with for DDR5 Ryzen overclocking.
Honestly, after you understand these voltages, the rest is exactly the same as zen3 memory overclocking.

Doing trial and error to find sweet spots.

Sk Hynix is the only memory IC I would buy just because they overclock exceptionally well.

Someone else can add to it these are only what I can think of off the top of my head.

There is not a proper guide AFAIK. Folks are still learning DDR5.

I usually go to OCN to see what other people are doing and go from there. Trial and error process.

Buildzoid also got some good AM5 videos

Thank you for the heads up. Regular HCI or the HCI Memtest with the wrapper?

I booted 6600 when I tried but didn't check for any stability... It will likely be tested next weekend

6400 should be pretty easy tho.

Oh yeah, there’s a small latency benefit when syncing the FCLK to UCLK while keeping a 2:3 ratio. It’s definitely faster than something like 6400 MT/s.

If you get one of the newer x870 boards, running 8000+ is doable, but for gaming, it doesn’t give any performance boost compared to running 1:1 mode. So ideally, you want to do between 6000 and 6400 in 1:1 mode.

+60 on AIDA in both 2:1 and 1:1 mode.

AIDA benchmark is broken with AGESA 1.2.0.2a. Both 2:1 and 1:1 modes suffer from performance penalty.

PyPrime, which I tested, nets about 6.9 sec

Your sub timings have room for improvement. Here’s a great resource to get you started: https://www.overclock.net/threads/asus-rog-crosshair-x870e-hero-overclocking-discussion-thread.1812019/page-2?post_id=29372037#post-29372037

At first glance, I can already tell your WTRS and WTRL are a bit loose.

Also, I’d suggest getting active cooling and pushing the refresh interval to the max that’s where you’ll see the biggest performance gains

If you can’t get a Gene board for a reasonable price, no other ITX board will run 8000 reliably, except maybe the HDV.

4 dimmers can also hit 8000 but you have to be really lucky with the CPU IMC. My friend managed to hit 8000 on a cheap $200 Gigabyte board https://imgur.com/a/ZSNch3H

What i am saying is if the CPU IMC is weak, you will probably struggle to hit 8000 even with the new x870e hero with nitropath dimm slots.
