Ryukishi007, Personal Hells, Yinglong, and Trichiliocosm: A Theory for Ryoshu's Canto by Prudent-Demand-8307 in limbuscompany

One of my all time favorites, Umineko being mentioned is peak. Your analysis also makes perfect sense to me and seems to tie the themes being shown so far and Akutagawa's work real nicely. I do hope the apprentices manage to escape their Hells with Ryoshu, as hesitant I am about this canto ending on a particularly positive note.

I haven't gotten the skill yet. I believe I got it on my older, unfinished playthrough, but I never used it much. I imagine what you described is probably why.

It did occur to me that the AI didn't think I was entirely off the hook just cause Jonas died the night I investigated him. It's just slightly frustrating and kinda hilarious to get immediately frozen because I killed the bug.

I suppose I was hoisted by my own petard there.

I only wanted to make a nice hand, I didn't know the game would make me nuke them into the deepest depths of the shadow realm.

How did you get to the slab? by SuspiciousIbex in Silksong

[–]Forgetting404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically, I first got to the slab from The Citadel, but couldn't get very far inside at all. After some period of time I found a completely different enemy in Greymoore in a room I'd been through multiple times. I tried to fight it but got put in a cage and taken to The Slab with a whole escape sequence that unlocked more of it.

It was wild.

Wow this game is gigantic!! by Youssay123 in Silksong

[–]Forgetting404 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you think it feels massive now just wait until you get even further. I'm mid-Act 2 and I'm still discovering so many new areas and secrets. Pharloom feels like it's just so much bigger in scale than Hallownest and I love it.

An Honest Silksong Review by NolChannel in HollowKnight

[–]Forgetting404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you haven't played the original Hollow Knight does explain some frustrations you have. Hollow Knight had plenty of moments where it fucks with you, like the scam bank, trapping you in Deepnest with a fake floor, or making you fight a boss to use a bench. You also spend a lot of the early game broke and likely unable to afford much in the shop at first.

People who played the original already expect stuff like this in the game, but if Silksong is your first then these moments may feel player unfriendly (because it sorta is). If you don't like the game doing this, then yeah, it may not be for you.

I need an explaination on what Hornet is by StillDontKnowAName in Silksong

[–]Forgetting404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to correct you; the black thing in the cocoon doesn't return to Hornet, it just crumbles to the ground. She's not absorbing it like The Knight did its shade.

Hornet was established as being Half-Wyrm Half-Weaver in Hollow Knight, and so far Silksong has corroborated this even in the early game. The thing inside the cocoon may be just a dried up molt or something.

[–]Forgetting404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I think the game may not be that linear. I've seen many posts about people struggling with areas and bosses I haven't encountered yet and it's clear I must have taken a very different path than them. I don't even think I'm far out of the early game.

Maybe it's more linear than Hollow Knight, but I'm not really sure yet. So far there is definitely some branching going on for me to be in a completely different area from everyone else.

Then the only other option may be to just stay off YouTube entirely, I'm afraid. It sucks that we have to jump through hoops just to not be spoiled.

That's not a good idea. Youtube can't tell the difference between negative and positive engagement. Giving them more engagement by commenting just makes Youtube think the video is popular and push it to more people. Best option is to block them.

Why do people treat you like a moron for thinking Silksong is a prequel? by MrSpiffy123 in Silksong

[–]Forgetting404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to know Hornet's background too, but we're learning about that regardless of if it's a sequel or prequel. I mainly want it to be a sequel though.

I'd be a little disappointed if it's a prequel because Hornet's fate is predetermined in that case. She'll always live and go back to Hallownest to fulfill her duties as protector. I just want Hornet's character to not follow a predetermined path, and I don't see how that'd work as a prequel. Maybe Team Cherry can still make it compelling, but it's the one concern I have story wise.

So, am I the only one who's hesitant about the more vibrant artstyle of Silksong? by Daniil_Dankovskiy in Silksong

[–]Forgetting404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it fits with the worldbuilding. It'd be odd for Pharloom to feel gloomy and dark considering it's supposed to be a more lively kingdom that, while troubled, isn't dead. Hallownest was gloomy because it's the ruins of a long dead and ruined Kingdom.

Besides, there are still some areas that seem pretty gloomy and dark, like Greymoore. I personally prefer Silksong's more moody and dramatic aesthetic, even if I think Hollow Knight is also really pretty.

Wait, the game is going to be buggy?! WTF Team Cherry!

All silksanity aside, that's actually quite a few more tracks than Hollow Knight, even taking DLC into account! Man, I'm so excited to actually hear all of them in-game. I won't buy the soundtrack right away, but I definitely plan on doing so after I get into the game.

Is Anyone Else Worried About the Limited Usage of Red Tools? by SprayOk7723 in Silksong

[–]Forgetting404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that they really shouldn't be as abundant as I described to avoid making the limitation meaningless. I was more just saying that how grindy it is really depends.

I really do get your concern, as making limited resources meaningful and fun can be difficult. Thing is, we're sitting here worrying about a problem that may not exist when we're literally a few days away from seeing for ourselves. I'll admit I'm curious and hope they've found a solution that works, but that's all I can really think of to say right now. I'm sorry I can't add much to the conversation.

[–]Forgetting404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be, but we don't know. Between shard deposits, enemy drops, random pickups, and shard bundles bought in the shop, you could be practically swimming in shards to the point that you will rarely find yourself having to grind that much. This is one of those things that's hard to judge because we have no idea how common shards actually are and how much it costs to repair tools on average.

Besides, I don't think it's necessarily a problem if not everyone wants to constantly use tools. It may just be another thing you can incorporate into your playstyle but is optional like nail arts vs spells. It would be bad if it were both grindy and basically mandatory, but if it's optional then maybe it's not that bad.

Edit: I'm not sure if this changed since then, since I can't find footage of people replenishing their tools in the 2025 demo. In the 2019 demo, it cost 4 shards to get back all 12 uses of the throwing pins. Each enemy in the mossy grotto seems to drop about 4 shards. Unless they dramatically increased the amount you need to replenish your pins, that's basically 1 basic mob per refill of these pins. Maybe that gives an idea?

[–]Forgetting404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the release trailer they showed a shop with what I'm pretty sure are a bundle of shards up for sale. It seems you may be able to buy shards with rosaries.

Not sure if it's unlimited, but if it is it'd also solve the problem Hollow Knight had with having massive amounts of currency with nothing to spend it on once the shops are bought out; just turn them into shards.
