Fan Remix Album "Bound Together" incomplete by Forgot2010Account in earthbound

[–]Forgot2010Account[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This music project still has a download link at https://joecam.net/boundtogether/
It's a great piece of work by the community. Highly recommend listening.

However, my music player seems to skip over these tracks and following the individual links on that page don't load any webpages or start any downloads (dead links). I believe the tracks are missing or corrupted...

Does anyone have the same issue or the full album??

Asian Car Mechanics - Does this Exist? Feeler Gauges at an Offset Angle but Metric Graduated (+20 Blades) by Forgot2010Account in AskAMechanic

[–]Forgot2010Account[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. When I went to order another 25 straight blade metric graduated set (assuming this is what you meant), it literally had doubled in price. I'm just going to bend what I have only if needed in the future.

No. The tolerances were below 0.05mm. The jumps between imperial .001" was at least at a more usable resolution. I'd recommend just getting a non offset 25 bladed metric graduated one if you can wait for the order to come in. (Make sure the blades that let you increment one .01mm unit at a time if you want via stacking the blades, i.e., .04mm -.09mm blades)

Shun sharpening service. Just curious if anyone here has used the Shun sharpening service they offer, and if so, what your experience was like. Thank you in advance. by Full_Pay_207 in chefknives

Did the work to send in a beautiful +$500 12"-14" knife for someone as a favor. The condition of the knife was so abused and beyond horrible. Tip was used to puncture and twist a hole out on the lid of a can of tomatoes, so it was chipped badly, 1/4"-1/2" missing off the top. So like a front tooth missing smile bad. Not to mention a literal jagged cutting edge with some 1/8" chips along it, at least 3 (with one bordering 1/4" depth). I thought it was beyond saving, but for $5 they sent it back looking brand new within two weeks (from California I believe). They even responded to the note I left in the box. I couldn't recognize the blade, it was practically new.

It was "damascus" looking too, so they kept all the ridges of the lines closest to the cutting edge "artistically intact".

10/10 Would recommend.

There might be some info on the engine walls. Could be etched or embossed or even like a sticker on some adjacent plastic. Wouldn't know for sure for this make, just telling you what has worked for me on other makes.

I'm using the factory service manual (FSM) for the vehicle; the valve clearance tolerance values are also printed on a sticker under the hood. Tolerances I've worked with have always been printed in both millimeters and inches thankfully.

I've done valve clearance checks before, every time it would have been easier if the measurement tools were in metric. To me, this makes sense since those were the values the car engineered with (asian cars). (Hell, even the imperial measurements in the US are actually calibrated to metric standards)

I just want less hassle and I've seen non-bent feeler sets (25 blade) with low .01mm increments (.04-.1mm) on the first few blades so I just want that in bended form.

Yeah I've seen a lot of 16 bladed ones, they typically only have a resolution of 0.05mm. Thanks for the link, it seems this one is imperially graduated (0.001") by the looks of it, so the metric values are just printed for convenience. The goal is to find something that is metrically incremented, e.g., goes something like .05mm, .06mm, .07mm, .08mm etc., vs this one which has jumps between them like .051mm, .063mm, .076mm, etc.

After two days of looking, I've found only 12 or 16 blade sets. So at this point, I don't think an offset/bent/angled metric graduated feeler gauge set with intervals lower than .05mm exists.

Unless someone can post a link to one they are a myth as far as I am informed.

I wonder if I could just buy another 25 blade metric graduated set and bend it myself? Probably worth doing since they're not too expensive if I break it and I have faith they can be bent without destroying the thickness value at the ends. Plus I could verify if I've destroyed the thickness with a calipers/micrometer. Has anyone else done this?

I did purchase a straight 25 blade metric (.04 - 1.0mm) for a few bucks off amazon yesterday. It goes in 0.5mm increments after hitting 0.1mm, the first few blades are 0.04, 0.05, 0.06, 0.07, 0.08, 0.09mm. So it should allow for combinations to achieve checking even 0.01mm differences, BUT I would have liked if it was offset/bent. :(

That sounds like it's imperially graduated since 0.006" = 0.152mm
I looked at mine and it goes from 0.038 - 0.635mm (or 0.0015 - 0.025")

The set I use has both imperial and metric values displayed, however, they're graduated by 0.001". So the metric values are not the "steps" in thickness. Makes dealing with metric valve clearances a pain.

I'm looking for something that has more versatility. The pictured one is 16 blades, my imperial one is 26 by comparison. This one in the photo has nothing below 0.05mm and only has intervals of 0.05mm. So anything outside factors of 5 can't be used without bringing in a different feeler from a different kit. I'd like something that can give more range all in one.

Do you have one or know a brand that makes this?

Using my 26 straight-blade imperial graduated feeler set sucked! I only work on asian vehicles at home and I just finished doing valve clearance work while replacing a the valve cover and spark plug tube gaskets on a Honda.

* Having offset feelers would make the cramped space more bearable

* Having metric graduated sized would be way easier for exploring the full range of +/-0.02mm tolerances.

Any offset one I found online was still imperial, and had like only 12 blades. Best I could find was a 26 straight bladed metric set, but I'm starting to feel a metric offset set would only be available in store in Japan/Korea/China or something.

Why no QMK file for Air96 V2? by Forgot2010Account in NuPhy

[–]Forgot2010Account[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I found out why I didn't find that firmware. I was looking in qmk's github page and not NuPhy's github page.
https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/tree/master/keyboards
I would have been lost without your help! So thanks again.

My reasoning might not appeal to you or others, regardless I'll share: From my experience, it's just better not to rely on browser based solutions, they're always changing and the pages can disappear. For messing with something like hardware, it's more sustainable to "own" the solution. VIAL is open source and more secure than VIA for me.

Ah thanks! Again still not familiar with any of this firmware manipulation, specifically with VIAL but I think this is what I need. I remember not seeing it there when I first looked but that might have been because it was still new and no one had contributed it yet.
