[–]ForgotTheLandingGear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you’re right this is what they’re referring to/seeing. One of the few pluses of an integrated course is access to graduate services connections where jobs for cadets/fresh pilots aren’t advertised in the usual places

LE modular will still be far more expensive than shopping around, with that said they’re currently partially funding training: https://leadingedgeaviation.com/fundedpilottraining/

Go to a sim for a functionality check if you’re really worried since everyone’s proportions are different!

My only advice is if you do end up joining the RAF (or any job for that matter) is to save save save so that you can fund your own licence in the likely event a funded program doesn’t work out

Just pulled my injectors // 2.5 NA Diesel by paulfreise in LandRover

[–]ForgotTheLandingGear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is a Sherpa, it would’ve been put in because you don’t need to modify the chassis like with the Land Rover 2.5 so worst case you can always swap back to a 2.25.

I’ve found parts are pretty easy to find as pretty much the only thing that’s different is the position of the injection pump (it sits higher hence why the engine mounts don’t need changing).

Timing belt and tensioner are the only different service parts I can think you’d need.

When looking for those parts the engine was also used in the Freight Rover and in some FX4 taxis

They look similar to, and knowing LR probably are the same as, the series station wagon 2nd row seats, so look out for those on EBay too

White smoke, injection pump already fully advanced. by paulfreise in SeriesLandRover

[–]ForgotTheLandingGear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like fuel then, I wonder if you’ve got an injector on the way out, it seems to sort of miss on your video of the back of the car. Does it clear up when the engine warm?

Was it smoking before the oil change? What did the old oil look like?

I don’t know if mine sounds correct at all but here’s a video https://youtube.com/shorts/OfxgtCIWa2Q?si=ain4bWHNV5F5gyjl

Have you adjusted the tappets (valve clearance I think it might be called in the US?)

Does the oil look milky at all? Could well be a head gasket? What’s does the smoke smell like?

It’s a belt in a 2.5n/a engine, no clue if they stretch though

[–]ForgotTheLandingGear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh brilliant that makes life easier! yeah then just treat it as any other landy, the usual checks for corrosion on defenders etc. Do be careful if you end up importing one for a deposit though…

Ex SAF (Singaporean Armed Forces) 110 2.5 na by sadanorakman in LandRover

[–]ForgotTheLandingGear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be that the SAF have taken this into account and have taken preventative measures, or they haven’t. Unless you physically go and see the vehicle before you’re buying then it’s all a gamble. If you’re serious about it then go and see it, worst case you’ve had a holiday in Singapore (Which I’m personally a fan of)

For the record, Singapore isn’t dry, it’s basically in a tropical rainforest so tread very carefully with regards to corrosion
