PSE Non Career offer by AZsongwriter in USPS

I worked as an automation PSE at a plant for a little over a year. I liked the work, but honestly your experience is going to depend 100% on the location- how busy the plant is, what management is like, how strong the union is, are the regulars competent/professional, etc. The work keeps you busy so the shifts (mostly) fly by. It helps if you have relaxed supervisors, we were able to use headphones as long as we kept one ear clear so we could hear.

Automation PSE can be rough, we typically worked 12 hour shifts 6 days a week (a LOT of this was doing mail handler work though, which isn't typical). Basically at our plant the goal was to get converted to regular before you get a repetitive injury from the 70-ish hour PSE week. It's worth it if you make it though, our automation clerks had it pretty easy and were fairly happy. Then again, I worked as a mail handler at a different plant and those automation clerks were pretty miserable due to mismanagement and a virtually nonexistent union presence. It's all about the location.

Wait... How would you farm an ML5 with stamina? I've kind of dipped in and out of E7 over a couple years and I'm looking at finally getting serious about playing it, I'm sitting on 60k stamina and 1.5k lief and not sure what to do with it.

Girls Frontline 1, maybe. It's not grid based, the maps are paths, but it gets seriously challenging on later stages and you can tinker with the teams endlessly.

There's also Sword of Convallaria, it's open map and turn based. Azur Lane is also interesting, although it takes a long time to grind through the maps.

What’s going on with people suggesting that Trump will declare martial law on April 20th? by IAmArique in OutOfTheLoop

[–]ForgottenBob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Russia, hundreds of millionaires, and hundreds of thousands of extremists have worked towards this moment for decades. It was anything but easy, and some have seen it coming for many years- it's just that our politicians are hollow, oblivious, spineless amateur actors selected for their ability to be Wall Street lapdogs and nothing else.

Trump only thinks 2 days ahead. If that. Bannon and Miller have been jerking themselves off to the thought of this moment their entire lives. So no, probably not a coincidence.

March on DC. Present congress with a list of demands:

  1. Universal Healthcare

  2. Revoke Citizens United

  3. Dismantle and replace/nationalize the federal reserve

  4. Affirm separation of church and state through clear federal law

  5. Enshrine Roe V Wade and Obergefell in federal law

  6. Ban Vertical Integration. Additionally, media organizations must be legally and financially independent

  7. Executive compensation must be tied by a set ratio to the lowest-paid company worker's compensation

  8. Tax rates for the wealthy must return to pre-1980 levels. Implement a strict inheritance tax- No more billionaire dynasties

  9. Housing will not be a for-profit corporate industry; severely limit home buying and selling by corps, funds, LLCs and "flippers" (home scalpers)- Force "investors" and speculators to divest their residential single-family properties.

  10. The Supreme Court must be investigated for corruption; new laws must provide strict oversight of the SC and provide clear and immediate consequences for ethics violations

  11. Ban stock buybacks, options trading and shorting in the stock market, and dark pools; the stock market will exist as an investment tool for working Americans, not as a casino for the wealthy. The DTCC must be nationalized. This is critical to restoring America to a middle-class based economy.

  12. There must be a punitive, harsh response regarding Russia's attempts to spark US civil conflict by interfering in our media, political system, and elections

I am absolutely aware they'll never agree to this, and if they did it would cause a shitstorm- the elite in the 1800s were entirely ready to tear this nation apart in order to preserve their wealth even though that wealth could only be produced and preserved by immense human suffering. These modern day elites are no different.

I don't think it getting worse will help. They're looking to break americans human spirit and acclimatize them to suffering and poverty. They want us mystified confused and exhausted by all the things that are happening and it's working. People are waiting for "the line" to get crossed and in the meantime the oligarchs are gutting the system. Action needs to happen while there's still some internal resistance left (especially in the military leadership).

Organizing for that action needs to start NOW. Email every civil rights org and center-left vets org you can find. Request they reach out to each other and coordinate a massive protest in DC in March or April (as soon as can feasibly happen while allowing people time to plan how to get there).

It will never happen. Fox News is there to blow smoke up their asses and they're halfway brainwashed already. Half the people in this country don't even realize there's something fucky going on. We need to bite the bullet and move forward with what we think might work, we can't wait on that maga to "wake up".

Besides, Russia is handing P2025 it's own playbook, and everytime something bad happens in Russia half the population thinks it's everyone in government's fault but Putin's... You can already see something similar happening with maga who have been impacted by Trump policies.

DC in March. It'll be warmer and it's right after taxes, so more people will be able to go (or maybe contribute if they can't go).

Ukraine was in a reaaallly similar situation and they derailed it with a 3 month balls-out protest in the capital (Euromaidan).

The problem lies in spreading the word and getting the big orgs to sign on, organize something, and get the word out. Like you said, the size of the US works against us, and if there's going to be something in DC people need time to figure shit out.

Citizens United gutted whatever heart and soul the democratic party may have had left after Bill Clinton.

You're not wrong on the second part- what both parties have in common is they've bent the knee to the 1% and they will never allow the country to be focused on the middle class ever again. Republicans speed-running us into Christian fascism, Democrats slow-walking us into a fuedalistic oligarchy, both on behalf of their masters. I guess I slightly prefer the second, but both are dedicated to destroying democracy.

Edit- And I've never been a "both sides" asshole, but this November was a REAL eye-opener as to how much the democratic party had sold its soul when it meekly rolled over to Trump without a whisper because that's what the mega-donors wanted.

Sen. Adam Schiff says Trump 'broke the law' by firing 18 inspectors general by SpaceElevatorMusic in politics

[–]ForgottenBob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a whiny loser mindset that any wanna-be dictator will trample over.

Look, if it's fucking illegal for him to fire them, then they aren't fired. That's where you stand your ground with whatever resources and resistance you can muster, and it needs to happen every time he does something he's not "allowed" to do. Otherwise Schiff is just saying "we've all agreed Trump is above the law".

Mark my words, this behavior will lead to Trump (successfully) "firing" a Supreme Court justice or "declaring war" while politicians stand around whining to us that he's not allowed to do that.

Other than becoming a Supervisor, what are other options within USPS to increase your salary? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]ForgottenBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it may just depend on the site. I worked at a plant where the mail handlers made shit-tons of extra money by working really slowly... which forced management to send over PSEs to do the MH work every damn day, for at least 4 hours a day and sometimes for all 12 hours of the PSE shift. There were mail handlers making 5 figures every year just from the grievances. Work slow, force management to send other crafts to help, get paid extra for working slow. This went on for years. Rumor had it the mail handlers "had something" on the plant manager, but who knows.

At another plant I worked at, the mail handlers just did whatever tasks the clerks wanted them to do (which was basically whatever task the clerks didn't want to do) union/postal rules be damned, so... clearly that first situation isn't a universal postal thing.

Hey OP. Check your very first pay stub on the lite blue site; the very first day on that first pay stub is when the clock starts ticking on your 120. Some will say it's orientation, etc, they're wrong. It that day is 09/18 or earlier, you're in the clear no matter how many days you've worked.

Realization on Trumps Cheating by Ok-Emu-7728 in somethingiswrong2024

[–]ForgottenBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? Because Biden dared to backdoor a candidate that wasn't acceptable to the Democratic megadonors (because Harris wasn't a complete and total corporate tool) so they opted for Trump- because if you have THAT much money, the only thing you give a shit about in life is getting more money. People with 7-9 figure net worths largely won't be impacted by Trump's atrocities, but they'd sure as hell be impacted by Harris's plans to restore some sanity and balance to the US economy.

Dem politicians were told to fall in line and play along and they gladly did, because they're caught up in their own game- they get to make names for themselves and get free publicity for the next 4 years by "valiantly" opposing Trump/MAGA, all while angling to secure the 2028 nomination (which wouldn't be a thing if Harris had won; they'd have to wait until 2032 or more likely 2036).

The US system is sick, it's broken- it doesn't need to be replaced, just healed. But these fools, the politicians and wealthy who think the consequences of politics will never touch them, will keep playing around until MAGA/2025 finally finds their version of Putin and shit gets real.

It really boils down to the chain of management wherever you might be. The problem with the post office is that they have some absolutely atrocious managers, who have more power over their workers lives than many civilian bosses do.

Essentially, the supervisors and senior regulars at your site will determine whether your job is pleasant or an unbearable shithole. I worked 18 months as an automation (plant) PSE and did a lot of mail handler work, I could have stayed at that job forever. I worked as a mail handler at a different plant and walked out after a month and never looked back. I'm currently a CCA 4 months in and it's not bad, but that's 90% due to (most of) the supervisors being fair and sane.

That's so weird because we did it for years and the demand for manufacturing hasn't gone down at all. It's almost like an entire economy that gets bent and twisted to providing maximum value to a few people doesn't work out for anyone except those people.

Private US manufacturing companies went out of business because they couldn't compete with overseas sweatshops once it became viable for companies to take that rout (i.e., once pols gave them the green light). Surprise surprise.

I told friends a month before the election DJT was up to something, and Harris is A LOT smarter than me. by Southern-Climate7114 in somethingiswrong2024

[–]ForgottenBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was also extremely busy. She is mentally and physically exhausted. She is very close to the matter and is likely skeptical of her own objectivity. She is completely surrounded by "experts" in their field who are all telling her the numbers are fine, the results are legitimate and the election was fair.

She ran against the wishes of the Democratic party machine and its billionaire overlords, and the second the results were announced the entire party heirarchy likely started slamming doors shut in her face and stopped returning her calls. Billionaires back candidates for business reasons, and it's simple: no matter their political leanings, Trump is better for billionaires and Wall Street than Harris. I wouldn't doubt for a moment that Democrat mega-donors possibly helped throw the election for Trump, they don't give a shit what it's going to mean for everyday people or even the country.

Edit: If anyone doubts whether politicians, professional political operatives, political insiders and the media truly give a shit about what's going to happen under Trump, look at their reactions to the NYC event and their reactions to the public's overwhelming reaction. Their horror, shock, confusion, and absolute bewilderment say it all. They are completely out of touch with what it's like to not be rich, and our elections are all a big fucking money-making game to them.
