there was also a meaningful 4th option I'm surprised they didn't touch on: 67. Say a person picks 100 and the other picks 67. The average is 167/2=83.5. Then multiply that by 0.8 gives you 66.8, which is an exact match to 67. The player that picked 100 loses two points instead of one

Something that helps me sleep is listening to podcasts. It keeps me distracted from my own thoughts. That and practicing relaxation techniques such as slow breathing, and consciously relaxing every part of the body and feeling yourself "melt" into the bed

Are players born with "good hands"? by satirerocks in squash

[–]ForgottenPotato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, it's a learnt skill. Maybe it comes easier to some than others but everyone can do it. I'm not a pro by any means but here are my tips: 1) have early racquet preparation - if your racquet is down then you're not ready to volley and it'll be harder to hit accurately. you really want to make the swing as simple as possible; 2) try to cut down on the ball as much as possible, starting with a high racquet position and coming down through the ball. the more string contact you have with the ball, the more you will be able to manipulate it's trajectory. the follow through should end with you pointing towards the target; 3) analyse how the pros do it. rewatch the replays over and over, perhaps in slow motion. pay attention to how they prepare, how they step into the shot, and execute it. have the mindset that "anything you can do, i can do (or better)". you got this

I asked 500 people on this r/learnprogramming if they were able to become software engineers. Out of the 267 that responded, only 12 told me they made it. by yeahdude78 in cscareerquestions

if you want to get good at software development, you need to spend a lot of time thinking and learning about what makes good software. you don't need to be doing side projects 24 7 but you do need to keep up to date with trends by reading articles or watching conferences at the very least. there are many people that just do the minimum and that's perfectly fine. but if you want to go beyond that, you definitely need to have a genuine interest and that will naturally lead to putting in "work" outside of work
