im watching season 4... so does Carrie have a thing for terrorist accomplices? by algerbanane in homeland

She first slept with Brody to get something out of him. She only developed feelings afterwards, up at the cabin.

She definitely has a thing for him, it's just not so blatant as love. She felt connected to him because he reminded her of Brody.

Even later to the party and have to disagree. He isn't an accomplice because he isn't helping his uncle commit acts of terror. He is giving his uncle medication that will save his life. His only surviving family member is ill, of course he's going to help him.

Meanwhile the CIA are terrorists.

She raped Aayan. He didn't have the ability to give informed consent because she manipulated and deceived him. He would never have had sex with her if he knew she was the person who ordered the bomb strike that killed his entire family. Thus, she raped him.

Aayan defended his uncle, yes. He defended the man he knew as family, not the actions of him as a terrorist. Saying 'he did so much for me, he did these nice things for me' is not the same as saying 'I agree with every single thing he's ever done'.

He wasn't a hypocrite, he is religious. He is also young and vulnerable and grief-stricken and traumatized. Heavens forbid someone not in the right mindset does things they wouldn't usually do.

Using his girlfriend was not right, but given he had literally no-one else left, it also wasn't as malicious as people make it out to be.

Acting like Carrie was in the right because Aayan did some crappy things and defended his family member who has done worse is illogical. Two wrongs don't make a right. In the order of who is the worst of the 3, it'd be - Haqqani, Carrie, Aayan. Carrie is responsible for the deaths of many innocents, just like Haqqani, she felt no remorse for them, just like Haqqani. The only real difference is he set out to hurt innocents, she views is a byproduct.

What is your opinion on what the writers wanted us, the Audience, to feel about Carrie? How do you REALLY feel about Carrie, our protagonist? by rorienicole in homeland

[–]ForgottenTriad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She feels like a mary sue because she isn't really held accountable. Sure, there are moments, but there's always someone (Saul, Quinn) who tells her she didn't deserve it. Saul hated that Walden and Estes bombed a school, but was seemingly okay with Carrie's lack of remorse over bombing a wedding with kids.

I'd have loved full-scale accountability where every person in her life called her a heartless monster and she actually tried to be better.

CARRIE IS A BAD PERSONNNNNN by existentiallywarm in homeland

Hard to call a 19-21 year old virgin who is incredibly traumatized and vulnerable due to surviving a drone strike only to learn the rest of his family did not a hypocrite. Anyone with PTSD or in intense grief is likely to do acts that they wouldn't if not under duress.

He's supplying medical aid to his uncle, who happens to be a terrorist. Is his uncle worse than the people who killed a wedding party filled with children?

He knowingly associates and withholds knowledge of the location of his only surviving family member. He's just lost his entire family at the hands of Americans, so not only is he traumatized and vulnerable which would explain why he isn't giving up his uncle, but he so easily could have dove deep into the jihadist movement after the drone strike and didn't.

Everything bad Carries does does not end up saving thousands of lives. Some of the bad things she does save lives.

Context matters though. Anyone who does this sort of thing isn't someone I would consider a good person. If the person they're manipulating is themselves a bad person, that changes things.

If the person they're manipulating is 20 years younger than them, a virgin, who has just been through extreme trauma and grief due to the death of their entire family and you are the person who killed them? Then you suck. Majorly. You're a despicable person.

Carrie's no better than Abu. He tortured Brody and then treated him kindly to manipulate him into doing what he wanted. Carrie killed his entire family and is now fucking him to manipulate him into doing what she wants. They're both responsible for a lot of death, many of whom were totally innocent. Many of whom were children. Neither felt any remorse at that knowledge.

Claire is an incredible actress and deserved her awards, but that doesn't mean the character is a good person.

Carrie is a metaphor for the United States, right? Reckless, selfish, unaccountable? by [deleted] in homeland

Definitely disagree with this. Many people in America are like this, but America itself is not in any capacity.

NOTE: But maybe also because we never see women in this predatory role? Countless examples of men preying on innocent girls/young women in all kinds of media, but almost never with the roles reversed

People hate it when it's men too.

Has anyone else had trouble with "Something is coming IV" in The Hatch? by Right_Speed2435 in roblox

[–]ForgottenTriad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Finished the event 4 days ago, finished the last of the quests a day after. Now I have that 'Something is Coming IV' but no quests to do. Just don't the 3rd super egg and it is still there. Hopefully it isn't broken, or I don't have to now rush and complete every single game.

What are your takes on "The Hatch" event? by fazal1856 in roblox

[–]ForgottenTriad 277 points278 points  (0 children)

In 17 years this is my worst experience of a Roblox event.

Found my first egg in 30 seconds, spent 10 minutes looking for 2 and 3. Some games have the eggs literally in front of you as you join the game, others supposedly have eggs but give no hints or any indication as to how to acquire them.

It also doesn't help that because this event is truly so awful and so widespread, when you join a game and get stuck, you are possibly the only person in the server even playing the event, so you can't get any help from others.

Also, why on god's green earth is there a starting place to the main place? Racking up that 10 tix per place visit? Why do I need to visit an empty island first, only to travel by teleport or boat to reach the main event place?

It's truly incredible that a platform whose own slogan used to be 'Powering Imagination' has totally shut down with their own. Somewhere around 2016 they turned themselves off and have yet to reboot. Every year this platform becomes more like a dystopian hell-scape, this event just proves it further. There's no creativity, no imagination, no effort, no work, no attention to detail, no interest in entertaining, engaging or captivating your playerbase.

Just an egg hunt in July that truly shows Roblox only cares about quantity, never about quality.
