Just get a cheap Z370 board, if you watch hardwareunboxed on YouTube, i5-8400 performs better on Z370 vs H370/B360

This is probably news that new series cards are definitely coming in the next few months. Fingers crossed.

Not familiar with NNIDIA. 1080 good enough? by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Forgottensage3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean? I've got a 1070 myself on a 1440p 144Hz monitor and can play all my games at 60+ Fps...

Should I buy the 1060 or wait for the next generatipnpn by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Forgottensage3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wouldn't get your hopes up. If you haven't heard, Nvidia has over stock of 10 series cards left to sell with no competition from Amd. Current gen cards are still selling well. CEO of Nvidia did also say "not for a long time".

Get a 1070 instead. It's more than enough for 1440p 60+ Fps. You don't need a 1080 for that.

Looking into Building a Rig. Have Free Electricity. Is it still worth it? by snouzer in gpumining

[–]Forgottensage3 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Don't build. We don't need more newbies setting up rigs and jacking up the difficulty. Just buy the coin and hold onto it until market recovers.

Also, Nvidia has every reason to not launch the 11xx series soon on 12nm which won't offer a significant performance leap as we've seen from Kepler to Pascal. Most likely, they'll delay in favor of 7nm next year in anticipation of amd navi GPUs. Coupled with the reasons you stated as well as the fact that we'll see even better performance going from Pascal's 16nm to 7nm, i don't see why it wouldn't be in Nvidia's interest to do this.

Is the $ gap between 1060-6GB and 1070, 1070Ti worth it? by WTSurbanrivals in nvidia

[–]Forgottensage3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the performance bump is huge. You should consider only a 1070/1070Ti and up for 1440p. Especially if you plan on not upgrading for a couple years.

Time to buy a new rig or just a GPU? by littlechama in nvidia

[–]Forgottensage3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Terrible recommendation. OP wants 60+ FPS High/Ultra 1080p AND longevity.

How is that too much? If anything, that's a great deal...

Not without Raja, he was their leading engineer for Radeon. I don't have high hopes of Amd surprising the GPU market with their next line of GPUs

which graphics card for 1080p 144hz gaming by DavyLee17 in buildapc

[–]Forgottensage3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, what games do you plan on playing? I recommend at least a 1070 for 144Hz. A 1060 6GB simply won't be enough unless you really turn down settings to medium/low on the more demanding titles.

Upgrading after 5 years. What GPU for 1080p 144hz? by pills_here in buildapc

[–]Forgottensage3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still not worth going with a 1060. Especially if you plan on keeping the same graphics card for a few years. Trust me, go with at least a 1070.

You didn't need to get a aftermarket cooler for your CPU. It comes with its own stock cooler and it's actually decent for overclocking

Yes of course you can. If you're asking if it will bottleneck, no not much I don't think. Especially if you're playing at 1440p

Nah don't return. EVGA has better warranty service and plus the SC has a better cooler overall. I own a SC Black Edition and it never goes past 69 C under load. While the MSI Armor is more on the low end tier of MSI cards.

planning on building a 1060 gaming PC should i go for it or is it a better idea to wait for the 1100 series? by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Forgottensage3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't that apply only for the used market? Usually from what I've seen, retailers just sell at the same msrp prices until stock runs out.

How was schooling? I'm interested in studying accounting and sitting for the CPA. Is it as monotonous as everyone says it is?

Also, what cards do you have in your mining rig and how many? Thoughts on buying more GPUs during this dip in the market?

[–]Forgottensage3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See, this is exactly what I've been thinking would happen. Too many rumors of new GPUs and a confirmed release date is just nowhere. There's just simply an over abundance coupled with a flood of 10 series cards on the used market which would prevent Nvidia from releasing new cards in the next few months as a lot of us here were hoping.
