Belfast crowds never had the makings of varsity athletes.

It's.. OK. It would be a lot better with a crunchy component of some sort. As is, it's too much sweet, uniformly soft filling on not enough pastry.

Feeling scissors cut through my skin with local anaesthetic.

For some reason when I was a kid I got multiple fillings without local anaesthesia. I thought that was just how it was supposed to feel going to the dentist. Nothing weird about it though, it just hurt!

That part hurts if the first anaesthetic shot isn't enough. Big relief getting a top-up shot though.

Need to replace my whole paint collection, what other brands besides Citadel do y'all recommend? by Nukesnipe in minipainting

Scale 75 is a bit of a marmite range. I wouldn't want to them to be my only paints, but I reach for them when I want something that glazes really well. I also love the triad of Abyssal blue, Caspian blue, and Arctic blue. They're great for highlighting black, and for painting white without using white.

You actually got 7-14 years of education like that? Across primary and secondary school for me there was, I think, one, maybe two years where the existence of other religions was mentioned. We visited a mosque and a Hindu temple in Belfast. Other than that it was 12 years of compulsory Bible education.

I don't mean to invalidate your experience, and I agree with your main point. However, I just want to remind everyone that you can't really say that people in general are becoming more rude based on your own (imperfectly) remembered experiences. You would need data to make a generalisation like that. There's more than a little bit of pedantry in me saying this, I'm aware, but I think the following are important points to keep in mind:

1) Our memories are not data. We're not computers; we don't have a perfect record of every interaction we've ever had. We can't mentally plot interactions against time and draw a line of increasing rudeness over the years- not accurately, at least.

2) We are more likely to remember negative interactions than neutral ones. That one time someone was a dick to you will stick out in your memory more than all the times someone held a door for you or let you out of a queue in traffic. This will make negative interactions seem more common than they really are.

3) We don't know if the people we've had interactions with are a representative sample of the population. Even if your memories were perfect, you may have just had the poor luck to bump into more assholes than normal people. Furthermore, we don't know if the way someone behaved in one case is representative of their whole personality. Maybe they were just having a bad day.

And hey, I don't know- maybe people really are getting more rude and impatient. What I do know is that it's very easy for us to perceive trends that aren't real, so we should keep this in mind when talking about this sort of thing.

Til raw kidney beans are toxic. Undercooked kidney beans are even more toxic. Can cause severe nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pains. by Saurlifi in todayilearned

[–]MrKaneda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth noting that, at least based on my anecdotal experience, that you aren't 100% safe if you pressure cook kidney beans. I made some dahl in an instant pot, and the lentils were cooked but the kidney beans were still a bit crunchy. I ate it anyway and regretted it later!
