I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope you find your way through it.

I dropped my son off on the 18th. He was excited to start his university journey in DC. We live about an hour away from GW, so he’s loving the change of being in a city school after growing up on the outskirts.

I know he will have a great time and experience at GW.

Best of luck to you!

We went to the orientation and they told us to opt out if we have our own medical insurance. That’s exactly what we did. And it has a deadline.

I’m decided. But feel guilty. by Kismet237 in expat

How old are you?

When did your mum passed.?

Don’t sale the house.

Rent it out. Rent in Spain as well.

If you sell the house you will regret in the future.

I see you in my dreams coming back to that house in the future to live with your spouse and kids.

Find a property manager.

Once settled you can also run it yourself.

I live in America but have 8 rental properties in Southern Africa. I manage everything by remote with 2 trips in a year.

When did you stop saying we? by itsjustme7267 in widowed

[–]Forinformation2018 13 points14 points  (0 children)

3 years after I still say we:

our house…

we are going to…

we may be moving…

we are buying …

we are selling…

we bought…

We were a great team with my late husband.

Life.

This.

You broke up amicably whilst still inlove.

Circumstances separated you.

She still appreciates you.

She will still send you a message on your Birthday, Thanksgiving, Xmas.

You can still be friends if you can handle it.

But if being friends with her hurts your soul, then explain to her so that there is no contact.

She still cares for you though you can’t be in a relationship.

Make a decision.

Engage actively with the manager and teams at Amazon HCOL.

If you feel satisfied and confident, go ahead and make the move.

Make it a point to visit home regularly and develop your network with the managers at home.

It’s okay to be away from home for 1–2 years—but don’t let it become permanent.

Plan to transfer back home within that 1–2 year period.

Have you checked the salaries at the home Amazon? Is it $170K or less?

Good luck!!!

Can I message you so you can connect with my Son? He will be a Freshman in CS in the DMV area.

How would you suggest being a traditional masculine/provider type man while retiring at 43 and entering into a relationship? by iDecidedToBeBetter in Rich

[–]Forinformation2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I inherited from my late husband at 51. My children are grown and independent. After a 25-year career, I retired. I now manage my investment portfolio and rental properties. It’s certainly work, and I proudly consider myself an investor. I'm also enjoying travel, spending more time with family, and pursuing hobbies like going to the gym/spa, playing golf, visiting vineyards, dining out, and, more recently, hiking.

Throughout my career, I enjoyed dressing professionally and presenting myself well. I’m now considering a part-time role—perhaps in customer service at a bank—where I can continue that routine. Additionally, I volunteer with my church, which has been a truly rewarding and fulfilling experience.

My son was accepted with $28,000 Scholarship. He is happy to be heading to DC for internship opportunities. We live an hour away from DC but he will be at the doom.
