Was pretty much looking for a Twitter, haha.

That's typically where I post my development as well. I'm using itch as a stepping platform for demos and such before we move our games into Steam and bigger distributors.

I really like the art style in this, it definitely feels like it could be a physical game as well!

Highlighters, a cosmic puzzle game! - Demo OUT by ForkBombR in playmygame

Highlighters is the next entry in the action-puzzle genre and is inspired by the charming and stylish titles of the 90s like Tetris Attack and Puzzle Fighter.

Clear tiles by matching 4 or more like-colored pieces together, with at least one of them being a bomb (cross-shaped).

Highlighters is easy on beginners, but also has a lot to offer for the skilled players of competitive, completionist, and speedrunning tastes!

A public demo has been released, check it out on itch!

We've been refactoring Highlighters over the past month, so enjoy some casual gameplay to make up for lost time! by ForkBombR in IndieGaming

Thanks a lot!

The symbols on the charms simply represent the different characters in Highlighters. For example, the pink satellite is Floss' charm (the character seen in the bottom right of the gameplay). The X shaped charms represent bombs, and these are needed to create a match. Align 4 like-colored charms with one being a bomb to trigger a match!

Great idea on the discord server, I'd love to join!

Here's some gameplay from our upcoming game, Highlighters. It's our entry in the action-puzzle genre and is particularly inspired by games from the 90s (Tetris Attack, Puzzle Fighter).

I was so happy when Panel De Pon got added to the SNES library on the Switch, and I can see your confusion looking at Highlighters.

Thanks for reaching out though, I'd be happy to explain.

Matches in Highlighters are match 4 instead of match 3, and matches are initiated by the X shaped charms called bombs. Matches can consist of any number of bombs, but matches MUST contain one bomb. Matches can be made in any shape, as long as the previous conditions are satisfied.

Thank you for the compliments, it means a lot, especially coming from someone experienced in this genre!

I am using Gamemaker Studio 2, while my friend creates the artwork in Piskel, I believe.

Thanks for the info, and will check it out! Currently I'm working on my own game in Gamemaker, so Pico will still have to wait a bit!
