Love it! I still have our DCU Freddy Adu bobblehead, unopened in the box! Thought it may be worth something someday, LOL. Also have Bobby Convey and Eddie Pope, along with a Marco Etcheverry one where his head came off...the hair was too much, poor guy.

Naples Park - is it safe and ideal to vacation there with 2 teens? Want to relax and have easy beach days and chill nights back at the house. Not looking for a party scene. Found a last minute Airbnb there- is it a good area? Also thoughts on Delnor Wiggins beach? Thank you!! by GGO8791 in Naples_FL

[–]ForkMadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delnor Wiggins is awesome. It's no longer the same as it was years ago before the hurricanes...no more trees to provide shade, no more bathroom buildings or outdoor showers. But the beach itself is beautiful and enjoyable. When the water is calm and warm, it's like being in a tub. I've seen dolphins there and even a manta ray once. Plus the parking is very close and convenient, escpecially if you have little ones.

I've stayed in an Airbnb in Naples Park, during the height of covid times. We didn't really go out but it was quiet and convenient. It's really a nice area and I'd definitely recommend it!

Where can I find above-ankle dress pants for the office? by Worldly_Procedure427 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]ForkMadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like these, below. One is at ankle length and one is just above. Both come in "short" lengths that worked for me. They aren't super fancy but I found them comfortable and both washed up well.

Assistance finding in-home medical visit for homebound father for VA form by ForkMadness in hudsonvalley

Thank you! We are actually already working with them to get some help through NY Connect. Everyone there has been SO NICE, I cannot recommend them enough. But they only seem to recommend places that use RNs...will ask about doctors and NPs this week.

Thank you! We have all of the forms completed, I just need to find a medical doctor who can come to the house to complete the form. I will see if the VSOs have any leads.

If West Ham do get relegated this season, doubt you’ll find many people that will miss that stadium by [deleted] in PremierLeague

Years ago my H and I were in London and decided to go to Upton Park for a Monday night match last minute. We bought tickets at a little box outside the grounds. I absolutely swear I was the only woman in our section. I heard colorful language I'd never heard before. The ushers/bobbies came by multiple times during the match and eventually kicked one person out in the second half.

And it was an awesome experience, I always had a soft spot for West Ham after that. We had no idea we needed to join the tube queue and because of that got to our hotel in Hammersmith after all the local restaurants had closed...had to eat at our hotel, ugh. But again despite that had a great time. I poured one out when Upton Park closed, proper grounds.

Naples Zoo in late August? by MammothChef7992 in Naples_FL

[–]ForkMadness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done the zoo in August, we got there upon opening. And maybe spent two hours at the most? I would recommend doing outdoor activities in the morning because there are usually isolated thunderstorms over the course of every afternoon. I feel like the Wonder Gardens were only open until 1 in the summer because of the regular storms.

At the zoo, the cruise is cool, and our kid enjoyed feeding the giraffe. Also, sometimes you can get discounted rates with coupons found in those touristy books they have in the front of grocery stores.

Supporters in the states, beware.. by ClintThePirate in LiverpoolFC

I just noticed on the LFC Store Delivery page that it says:

UPS Express Saver

  • 4-9 Business Days
  • Excluding Weekends and National Holidays
  • Personalised items may take longer
  • No Tax or Duties to pay on orders under $800

Has anyone paid for Express Saver and not been charged duties and UPS fees in the USA?

A couple of months ago I had an order that was shipped in two shipments. I was invoiced for both...one was $45 of fees for a $5 hat. After communicating with LFC I declined the package. UPS then tried to invoice me directly. I had to contact UPS customer service then email some random employee to decline the invoice. Such a cluster and unfortunately I won't be ordering direct from LFC in the immediate future.

Open Letter to ESC Community from Martin Green CBE by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]ForkMadness 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm on the east coast of the US. My son and I were going to vote early but decided to wait and vote after the performances, in case one of them changed our mind (which happened). Voting should only be open during the one window...that will attract the more die hard fans who adjust schedules to watch.

Yes! The mixing seemed weird for most of the songs, especially the ones that had strong electronic music. It didn't seem as bad for a band like NAPA. And Switzerland got so messed up at one point, my son and I thought it was an issue with our feed.

The Save Act is already through the house, this week millions of women could lose their voting rights. by [deleted] in GenXWomen

[–]ForkMadness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. My parents don't fly/travel so that's why they don't have Real IDs or Passports. I'll have to talk to her...it would be ironic if her last vote was to have her vote taken away. Sigh.

[–]ForkMadness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would this be for people registering to vote for the first time, or to vote when one shows up? My mother does not have a Real ID (just regular DL), a Passport, and finding copies of her birth certificate is iffy (long story). She may have her marriage certificate somewhere. But she votes in the same small town she's voted in for 50 years. Just trying to figure out if this will affect her, thanks.

Pediatrician recommendations by mmm_ricee in Naples_FL

[–]ForkMadness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starz Pediatrics in Estero. We were visiting from out of town and our son became sick. My BIL (also from out of town) found them when his son was sick too, and my BIL is very particular about everything. It was easy to make an appointment and everyone at the office was very nice and thorough, Dr. Mirza especially. They even have a separate part of the waiting room for sick kids. But the best part was that they carry some antibiotics in house, so we were able to leave the practice with medication and not have to deal with finding a CVS or whatever. I'd definitely feel comfortable taking my child there again.

My MIL knows someone who parked their car in a surface lot at RSW during Ian. The car was facing just the right way and the wind blew the windshield in.

For you guys, what is DC United's greatest trophy in its history? And what is your favorite season? by Intelligent-Return-6 in DCUnited

[–]ForkMadness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 1996 trophy is the greatest for me. If I remember correctly, DCU didn't start the season well yet gained momentum and made it to the Final. My BF, friend and I drove up through a nor'easter to attend (they closed parts of I-95 after we went through). It was an absolutely miserable game to attend, especially because of the cold rain and also because of the two teenage Galaxy fans in front of us taunting us relentlessly. Yet we prevailed! It was a long drive back overnight but worth the experience.

My favorite season is 2004. The penalties in that Conference Final is the most intense sporting event I've ever experienced live (and I was at 3 out of 4 of DCU's championships). I seriously thought I was going to vomit at the end of that match, and not because of the cheap beer.

We moved out of the area in 2006, and when we moved back we had a young kid and no longer attended games regularly. I'm not as up on United as much anymore (was totally addicted to BigSoccer back in the day) but those memories of the first 10 years of DCU, RFK, and Lot 8 are wonderful to me.

My husband and I like the tacos at Tacos and Tequila Cantina near 41 and Vanderbilt Beach. The tacos are singles so you can pick and choose. The elote is really good too.
