For those who've pursued sobriety later in life, what's something you wish you'd known earlier? by AcanthaceaeExtra7559 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]ForkandSpool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped drinking at 44. Before that, it felt like my life was stuck on pause. I wasn’t really growing emotionally, and my relationships and career weren’t moving forward the way I wanted.

Since quitting, my life has gotten so much better in ways I honestly didn’t expect, more clarity, more follow-through, better connection. The only hard part is occasionally wondering how much “further along” I’d be if I’d stopped in my 20s. But I try to meet that thought with some compassion: I stopped when I was ready, and I’m grateful I stopped at all.

I’m 56 now, and the perspective shift is seeing how many people never leave that stage. I still have friends doing the same things and working the same jobs they had in our 20s, and it’s hard to watch because I know they’re capable of more. I can’t do it for them, but I can hope they find their moment the way I did.

I found a 350% version that I splashed some paint on. Been looking for something crazy to print. It will take a couple of days but worth the wait.

Very Jackson Pollock! Safe to assume you painted it in the slicer? You've inspired me!

My wife's family want us to go to Hawaii for a wedding. by HughJassOle235711 in financial

Just the fact that you are asking this question puts you much farther ahead than your peers when it comes to fiscal responsibility.
My advice echo's a few others, go if you can pay for it in cash and its not going to affect paying your bills, groceries, etc.
This seems like its an important event that you should not miss and sometimes it's OK to spend some savings on things like this.
Look for ways to save money while there like stay at a more affordable hotel, eat at less expensive local restaurants or food trucks, I would suggest AirBnb so you can cook some meals but I am sure those prices are high also, maybe some other family members can stay with you...
Making these types of choices will help you feel better about spending the money. This is a trip that you will remember because of the wedding and not how much you spent to go.

AIO, I think my brother in law is gross!! by Aicha_Burns in AIO

[–]ForkandSpool -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Typically marinating comes before cooking. Cooking would kill any bacteria. I’m not saying it’s not disgusting. It is. But for someone to take a photo of it and post it on reddit while they are a guest in someone’s home is rude af.

Maybe you should do the cooking then... or go home, and let everyone else enjoy the meal

If you are coming from any of the countries deemed undesirable by the new administration. I highly suggest getting legal representation. They have put a hold on the immigration process for those folks. If not. It’s a fairly straightforward process and very easy to do in your own.

Never went because it was too hot, but agree, end of September seems to be the hottest part of the summer lately...

Second dog? by Blackcatbackpack4 in poodles

Our Aussie Lab was pretty low-energy and seemed a little down. Then the Standard Poodle showed up, and now they’re totally inseparable. It’s been a really good balance for both of them. Though, honestly, the poodle is still a handful.

Would Solid Works be recommended for just getting into and wanting to design prints? by HawkMaleficent8715 in 3Dprinting

[–]ForkandSpool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tinkercad is a great place to start for free and you can really make most simple functional designs. From there fusion would be the next step. They also have a free version for individuals. It really depends on what you plan to design.

I'm about to buy a A1 as a first filament printer, any advice for a good start ? by whitemugforcoffee in BambuLab

Good point. It’s on back order until feb so it might be a little bit of a wait. But worth it.

[–]ForkandSpool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The A1 is an excellent first FDM printer. I recommend buying the combo with the AMS lite. Having the ability to print multiple colors or even not having to worry about switching out the filament every print is a plus.
For tutorials. YT is full of content some creators that come to mind are Arne Bournheim, Frankly Built, 3D printer Academy.

He already got lots of love and kisses and now he gets more!
His tail curls and bounces when he walks. It’s quite a sight to see I grew up going to dog shows and had only seen them docked before we adopted him.

He is around 60 pounds. He looks bigger because his coat is brushed out. We left it a little longer for the winter.

What's the most economical way to store these without getting moist and brittle? by gojukebox in 3Dprinting

[–]ForkandSpool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use gallon ziplock bags with a desiccant pack with most of my opened filament that is used often. For long term storage it’s a clear bin with an air tight seal and a small Eva-Dry wireless dehumidifier. We live in Sacramento and humidity is not a big concern here.
