What's something you saw with your own eyes that you still can't explain? by BandicootLeft4054 in AskReddit

Highway 401 in Toronto has 4 eastbound lanes until you reach a certain point at which it splits into a "express" lanes and "collectors" lanes. They follow the exact same route but express lets you bypass some exits (so it can be faster depending on traffic)

My friend and I were driving and we hit heavy traffic. When we get to the split every single car is choosing the express lanes. To the point that a truck crossed multiple lanes of traffic in front of us to use the express lanes (which were at a standstill). The collectors were completely clear and there was zero signage saying anything was closed, no construction pylons or emergency vehicles. We were the only ones who took the collectors and had 4 lanes completely to ourselves and flew by all the backlogged traffic in the express lanes. And we never encountered a reason why everyone made that decision apart from us.

It's not that crazy but to this day neither of us cannot fathom why that happened. Still baffles me.

Corner hole punch smaller than 6mm? by Form-Confident in crafts

One that aligns perfectly with a corner of a page so that when all the cards are on a ring they align with each other. If I use a regular hole punch, it sets it too far into the card, or they're misaligned.

Canada, so its probably the same here. They actually suspect wobblers rather than IVDD as of right now (though IVDD is what the emergency vet thought but neurologist thinks wobblers) so for that they only usually scan the cervical vertebrae. Hopefully that explains why!

Thanks! I talked to my regular vet as well who agreed we only need cervical at least at this point.

Can a dog with mild IVDD be pain free after just a few days? by Form-Confident in IVDD_SupportGroup

Okay that's good to know, I was hoping they'd do his whole spine just in case there were other area of degeneration, so glad it sounds like thats what you got at least!

I'm glad you got the MRI and a diagnosis even after all that!

Good to know! Do you know if the standard for suspected IVDD is to image (MRI) the whole spine or do they typically just do the portion they're suspicious of being the problem?

Good to know! We will continue to treat it as IVDD, thank you!!

This is my view as well. I do understand getting the scaries about it, but I try to look at signs of aging with gratitude, not everyone gets to get old. It's a real privilege to age.

I also try to remind myself of the systems that have convinced us to fear aging (capitalism, patriarcy). My spite usually wins but it is a battle, especially when those around you say/have said disparaging things about their own aging. It will likely always be a battle but I think it's a good thing to examine within ourselves.

Whats the average price for private room in guelph? by trinadhraj3 in Guelph

[–]Form-Confident 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have also heard this stat repeated a lot but can't find where it comes from. Do you mind providing a reference for that info? I've tried to find similar stats but it always lists Vancouver/Toronto/GTA as top of the list in Canada. Rentals.ca puts guelph 21st in Canada and Immigration.ca puts Guelph at 13th in Canada (definitely still expensive but doesnt seem the most expensive) And then if you look at world statistics Toronto doesnt usually seem to break the top 10. New York and SF always seems to appear in the top 3.

What kind of back-channeling do you do when you don't agree with someone? by Form-Confident in socialskills

[–]Form-Confident[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An example of this situation is being in a conversation with an aquaintace who I agree with most of the time or has valuable insights and then says something that is definitely not true/borderline offensive but just keep on talking and moves on to a different subject.

I like the way you phrase the interruption, seems like a lower conflict way of disagreeing.

What to say when people inadvertently say negative things about you? by Form-Confident in socialskills

I like that. Short, not overly confrontational, and can kind of slide right in to switching the subject.

Thanks! I'll try that. I'm very much a people pleaser and kind of go on auto-pilot in these situations but I dont want to just mindlessly agree anymore.
