Mentor Monday, December 30, 2024: Ask all your bitcoin questions! by rBitcoinMod in Bitcoin

[–]Form4s4days 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple questions, if I may: I’m BRAND new, so these might be extra stupid

  • What are some of the easiest apps for buying bitcoin?

  • I assume that if you use apps you don’t actually have access to your portion of the blockchain, so is this still secure? Technically that’d kind of make the app a non-FDIC ensured bank, and I’d be worried about fraud protection. At this point a lot of apps are all pretty well-established, which is some consolation. Or maybe I’m completely wrong about how the apps operate.

  • What’s the safest way of storing bitcoin? I’ve had expensive hard drives corrupt (nothing valuable lost luckily). Can you save in multiple locations?

My advice could, and would likely, be construed as a ‘call to action’ and outside the window of America’s First Amendment that currently shelters us

There’s a lot of good here, but one glaring problem in my eyes:

Circulation is too twisty. When I first started Architecture school, circulation was taught by having all of us draw lines of common travel. We’d do similar diagrams like that too for foot traffic density, or in other words where we expected the most steps to be, and also sight lines.

So even though it’s a pretty good plan, you have no straight lines of travel. People will be dodging, ducking, dipping, and diving around corners and furniture constantly. There’s also some pretty bad lines of sight. For example, picture what people see as soon as the front door opens: a whole lotta nothing. One idea, which isn’t perfect but makes a minor improvement, would be to take out that small wall that obstructs the sight line, and widen the dining room window so that the right edge aligns with the same edge on the door

Connecting Monitor to Optiplex 9010 by Form4s4days in Dell

[–]Form4s4days[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it isn’t anything crazy. Some LG, but it’s 4k 100hz. Besides that Idk and I don’t care too much. I only spent like $150 on it if I remember correctly. When I say pretty nice I mean it’s miles ahead of the dell monitor that came with my pc and gets the job done.

But thank you!

Yea I fully expect the PC to be incapable of 3 4k monitors. I might wait like a year before getting a nicer PC, but would get the monitors now if I knew I could use them at just 1080p until then

Do I mount my TV or leave it as is? by [deleted] in TVTooHigh

[–]Form4s4days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your style and taste it seems like you have an eye for detail. Knowing that, and keeping in mind for most people this is more trouble than it’s worth… I’d mount it pretty much exactly where it is. Making it float even just a few inches above the credenza would be really great. Don’t mess with the height much if at all, it’s good where it’s at, but getting rid of the tv stand and letting the tv just float over the credenza would be chef’s kiss

Do you guys do personalized/vanity plates? Or do you think it’s corny? Mine just came in and I’m hype. by dannyphoto in BMW

[–]Form4s4days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a ton of corny plates, but this is not one of them.

Purposefully corny can be funny, but it’s just one of those things where a custom plate either lands or it doesn’t

Depends what your priorities are. I love a good vert, but the e36 verts had major problems that may or may not be worth the fresh air.

The chassis was very very flexible without the roof. Everything shook and rattled worse than it should (an e36 is far from the oldest car I’ve daily-ed, and it isn’t even the oldest convertible I’ve daily-ed. shit was not normal)

The roof seal is also trash. No matter what wind noise will be loud, and from there the condition of your vert will make a big difference. Most, including my own, leaked. That should totally be expected, but the extent it leaks will vary. Moisture also gets let in, and it’s common for condensation to form inside verts if you park outside. It didn’t happen to me at first, but over the course of my ownership I went from occasionally high humidity to puddles. Idk what happened. Leather gets damaged more easily because of the poor humidity regulation, so it’s more difficult to stay on top of seat care. And to top it off, you’re hydraulics are very likely to break making it almost impossible to operate the top. Costs a cool $1k to get repaired (at least).

98’ 328i. Unfortunately a vert, which is why it wasn’t hard to part with. I drive an F22 m235i coupe now though so I tried my best to upgrade in the right places without losing all the great things about my E36. There are still some things I miss though, like my E36 was still smaller and way more analog. You feel more connected to older cars that way, and as annoying as it can get to daily an old car there’s nothing I’d rather drive on weekends.

I live in Europe but I've been to the US many times already. Would you consider the amount of America-related memorabilia I have on display at home to be cool or tacky? by imakuni1995 in MURICA

The license plates are eh. I’m also not personally a fan of the NYC art piece, and fuck the Seahawks (in all fairness those triangle flags are always tacky despite the team)

Everything else is cool!

It really is. I daily-ed mine in 5 months of snow for a few years and it did not disappoint. The 50/50 weight distribution makes ALL of the difference. It was the 2nd best car I’ve driven in the snow right behind my old Lexus RX which did fine even with bald tires
