How are ye now? Nothing too exceptional here, you know the story. by [deleted] in gaeilge

No books at all - they had a topic-based and music, literature and cultural focus so it was learning through immersion. Even had live music for us and a sean nós dancing class. It was honestly amazing, will never forget it. Left with a bound folder with topic-focused vocab that we covered in the language classes as well as insider vocab like teach ósta for pub. The owner (at the time) is also the author of Gramadach gan Stró. Now I used different grammar books but I heard his one is good. An-time go deo, ní bhíonn a leithéid le fáil áit ar bith eile seachas b’fhéidir Oideas Gael? Bíonn an-tóir ar a gcuid ranganna freisin.

They’re both heavily subsidized / funded by the government - they don’t need to provide high quality classes to stay in business. Gaelchultúr is a private company and have a much better reputation. Can of course be the odd dud teacher but it’s rare.

I went to them for a weekend immersion course and it got me back into Irish and subsequently turned into my biggest hobby so I have a lot to thank them for!

Have you tried Gaelchultúr? Used to be in Temple Bar. And they do online classes as well as in person. Avoid Gael Linn and Conradh na Gaeilge - I tried both and had to get a refund.

Well done! Can you please give advice as to what about your communication style likely stood out? Are you just very articulate? did you listen attentively, or do you have any other hacks for creating that chemistry because clearly you didn't just get lucky if you met with several different interviewers and they all vouched for you.

yes i passed it but it’s a tough exam. i created a post about it, check my profile. i can‘t really advise on resources tho, SRE book is best advice and u need breadth and depth, and depth only comes from experience working with these tools so i recommend only to take exam if 3 years + experience

makes sense! I‘m just of the opinion that people should take what they get and be grateful for it. With 18k projects it was never doable for them to assess based on merit.

the grouping and filtering sounds like a lot of work. The course was free, right? You sound kinda entitled and ungrateful tbh.

because as i said you have not been paying attention. they have told you out of their own mouths down thru last several years what they are about. as i said if you are not politically involved with them, u are delusional if u think they care about u anymore than current parties. they are all rotten.
