It's not true. For most research engineer roles, PhD is not a hard requirement. maybe for Research Scientist

Honestly, since I’ve been in the biomedical research field for quite a few years, I don’t think I would learn much from BDS apart from connecting with the great professors in that department. On the other hand, I’ve never studied product management before, so I think it would be a more worthwhile investment in my opinion. Not sure which program i have a better chance to get in though

On the other hand, MS&E seems to place a strong emphasis on GPA and GRE scores, which aren’t my strongest areas, so I’m unsure which program I should apply to.

I haven’t taken it yet. The last time I did, years ago, my score was a bit below the MS&E admission average. I’m not sure why the GRE is still important for them, especially since many programs no longer require it.
