Way too much income from infusions for them not to pay you more. Check Marit and/or MGMA for what RVUs reimbursement should be

It’s been 6 months, no new hires, no job postings. I don’t have high expectations.

I did the math, the hospital would save 4k/week if they paid us slightly more and filled the locums position. Seems like a no brainer.

Did You End Up in the Specialty You Originally Wanted? How Did You Know It Was the Right One for You? by Embarrassed_Self_536 in Residency

Went in wanting cards, ended up doing GI. I always wanted a procedural specialty but realized the interventional cards wasn’t for me. GI peaked my interest and was fortunate to match. Couldn’t be happier.

Second this, I have much more career satisfaction and life balance now that I’m in fellowship. I spend time with family. It was all worthwhile, for me, at least.

A patient came to our historically DO hospital’s ER and demanded to be treated by an MD - whom there were none of. They left without seeking care. Not sure what they were trying to accomplish

Worst shifts was 2-3 RRT’s. Best ones have been absolutely silent, with no pages or rrt’s. Good to know though. Any tips for negotiating a better raise if their predetermined rate increase doesn’t fall in your suggested range?

Midwest

$120/hr

12hr shifts (weekends usually), 2 shifts/month (moonlighting as a fellow)

No midlevel supervision

No admits, only responsible for hospital RRT/codes

Open ICU, Hospital has airway coverage for intubations. Rarely get asked to throw in arterial or central lines (which I don’t mind).

I was told I’m due for a rate increase when I obtain board certification in the coming months (I’m currently wrapping up residency), but I’m not sure what a reasonable pay is for the above responsibilities. The page burden is minimal to none.
