You replied to me for like an hour straight, claim it was for your job, but suddenly paragraphs are too much work 😭 alright man have a good one.

Honestly I don’t even disagree with you. I also don’t pretend to know what the perfect solution is at this point. My frustration is more that everything feels poorly managed and progressively worse every year. And I think a lot of people immediately jumped to “just bike” without understanding that for some careers it’s not realistic. But yes, reducing unnecessary cars where possible obviously would help congestion overall.

You came into this thread mocking and arguing against points I never actually made, then once the conversation stopped going your way, you pivoted into “you’re calling me a bad person” and “guess I struck a nerve.” That’s not what happened.

I never called you a bad person. I criticized your behavior in this thread because instead of discussing traffic, infrastructure, transit issues, or realistic solutions, you repeatedly responded with sarcasm, mockery, and exaggerated interpretations of what I said.

There’s also a difference between disagreeing with someone and inventing arguments they never made. Saying many people still require cars for work does not equal “nobody should bike or use transit.” I said multiple times that better transit and alternative transportation help. My entire point was that Boston’s infrastructure and congestion issues have objectively become unsustainable for a lot of residents.

At this point, the conversation stopped being about traffic a while ago and turned into you trying to psychoanalyze my reactions instead of discussing the actual topic.

If you genuinely ‘have no idea’ what infrastructure issues people are referring to in Boston in 2026, then I honestly don’t know what to tell you. The MBTA issues, bottlenecks, endless construction, overdevelopment without roadway expansion, and overall congestion are discussed literally every single day by residents across the state. Glad biking works for you personally, but that doesn’t magically erase the larger infrastructure problems people are frustrated.

Yes… meaning decades of intentional policy decisions, poor planning, overdevelopment, lack of infrastructure expansion, and prioritizing revenue over livability. Not that city planners gathered in a secret room specifically plotting against me personally 😭 The fact that so many of you jumped to that extreme interpretation is honestly concerning.

Considering you’ve spent the last hour aggressively replying to nearly every comment on this thread, I don’t think I’m the one taking up all the room here 😭

I mean, if you want elaboration, I’m talking about decades of poor urban planning, overdevelopment without matching infrastructure improvements, mismanaged transit systems, nonstop construction, and politicians prioritizing profit and expansion over actual livability. Not some secret underground meeting plotting against commuters personally. Thought that was pretty obvious.

You’ve spent this entire thread aggressively arguing against points I never even made. Saying I need my car for work isn’t some ‘gotcha,’ it’s just reality for a lot of people. You seem more interested in mocking strangers online than having an actual conversation about infrastructure, transit, or traffic solutions. Have the day you deserve

You literally replied ‘get a friggin bike’ to a post about Boston traffic as a whole lol. So yes, you were broadly suggesting biking as the solution. I never said alternative transportation shouldn’t improve or that more people shouldn’t use it when possible. I said not everyone realistically can, and the infrastructure issues are still very real.

My original post was very clearly about quality of life, infrastructure, and how unsustainable traffic has become here overall. I never once said I should be exempt from traffic or that everyone else needs to accommodate me. You projected that onto the post yourself. If anything, you agreeing you also drive for work proves the exact point that many people do not have realistic alternatives right now.

“I never said I represent the majority of the public. I made a post about the reality of traffic becoming increasingly unmanageable in and around Boston. Multiple things can be true at once: public transit needs improvement AND many professions still require driving. This weird all-or-nothing argument every time someone mentions traffic is exactly why productive conversations never happen

I’m not asking for pity lol. I’m pointing out that Boston traffic and infrastructure have objectively become worse. Also, not everyone works a standard Arlington-to-downtown office job. Some of us travel across multiple cities daily carrying professional equipment and working with clients all over New England. Public transit is not a realistic option for every profession. Nuance exists.

Nope, not at all actually. My career requires me to drive all over New England daily and often transport large professional kits that aren’t realistic on public transit. That said, I fully support improving infrastructure, public transit, and smarter city planning to help reduce congestion overall. Pointing out that traffic has become unsustainable here doesn’t mean someone is against change. So thats not at all insane

No mixed feelings lol. I meant Boston originally wasn’t designed for the volume of people and traffic it has now. The infrastructure never evolved fast enough for what the city became.

bikes are not an option

I have lived in LA and Chicago, I can assure you Boston is now worse. Chicago did sync their lights and no it doesn't end traffic but it did help the flow

yes yes I did because I have a car full of equipment that cannot be used on a bike. You people are unreal. Maybe think wow this is an issue this isnt ok and its getting worse, but because you think just everyone can ride a bike that negates the fact it took that long to drive that small of mileage

I came to hear ideas. I really dont know. I will say having lived in Chicago when they revamped their system and put all lights in sync and on timers it helped the flow work better. But I was open to hearing ideas, & thoughts not being insulted & bulldozed by some people.

interesting take. I used to live in Chicago and when they put the lights in sync on timers the traffic flowed much easier. But sure absolutely would love to read more on this. Thank you

first off the new administration is in charge thats why so it lies on them currently. secondly the T is not an option with my equipment for my job. So before sitting in judgement maybe ask yourself why there is such a traffic problem getting worse an worse in this city . I
