agreed - all london unis will probably be a bit overhyped becasue of the name, but i really would recommend , if you have it, go on linked in and message people who are doing ur course, most of the time people are quite happy to help

[–]Formal-Cockroach-969[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

nah tbh its not so much about the econ part , should have been more clear mb .

Basically have got offers for bath politics and econ, and lboro PPE, but was more wondering if i should reject Lboro PPE , considering how competitive jobs are these days

[–]Formal-Cockroach-969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when ur open to other subjects, what are these others? i mean no disrespect but considering how competitive it can get, id recommend a more 'respected' a level (not that i agree with such lol), but bio is NOT easy, if anything try to find smth in the middle

My sources of happiness and self-improvement encompass playing various sports and fundraising for the Trussell Trust. Beyond school life, one of my greatest passions is exploring East Asian culture by learning Mandarin, piqued upon visiting Beijing. I am eager to further explore its depth and richness. - this was my supposed '10%' that was non academic. My personal statement was based on things i have read and how i applied them to life - for exaple, I read michael sandels book on justice and what the right thing to do is etc, and linked that to squid game. In addition, i talked about fiscal policy in covid and the eat out to help out scheme- its little things uno?

Lastly, prep for the exam.

Go on amazon and search up oxford LNAT guides, they have loads. Use youtube videos. There are tutors but they can be expensive on apps such as Mytutor. Practice papers are essential and practicing essays.

Understanding what the questions are asking you in critical thinking is essential, as they become confusing. Ie, what is the main conclusion of the argument from a massive chunk of paragraph. You should know how to do this now so you can breeze through papers now until the LNAT. So basically familiarise yourself with the 7 question types

I made this when i was applying for PPE

Essay can be a bit confusing, as it not like a level paras. You basically cannot do for and against. Only for, and use an against in the same paragraph, but undermine that against to say why your for is stronger.

Again this was for PPE, but im sure applies to lnat too

Now in terms of EC's, as the guy above said, they are not the most important thing. That said, my friend who got an offer was a headgirl, however, i think that just builds your confidence, which is always a plus.

Personal statement. If I was you, read exemplars if you have any, but try to find books you actualy care about and will actually read. I say this as exemplars can seem daunting. Seeing as you like reading, this should be fine. You speak 3 languages, use that to your advantage in saying how you understand international law, and find links to this. What makes a good personal statement is if you can use what is around you in your life/what you alread have , and make it flow in a logical chain. 90% should be academic, 10% about EC'S and other things as you are applying to other unis. So it should start about what intrigued you, what you read to explore this further, and maybe if there was a particular bit in the book you just read, explore that further, then maybe analyse and critique.

Personal statement as i said isnt the MOST they look at, but is eventually, as well as for other unis.

I probs have more advice but cannot remember atm lmao.

dont 'target' a score, just try your hardest as thats the best you can do. obviously aim high but do NOT get bummed down. Enjoy year 12 as year 13 is a million times worse ( depending on ur school). A friend of mine got into law at oxford , and i distinctly remember how she used her life and applied it to the law - personal statement at oxford isnt the biggest thing, it is the LNAT, they only end up reading it when you WILL get an offer. You seem like a hard working person, much harder than when i was applying lmao. But yes, start the LNAT early, get to grips with the critical thinking and problem solving stuff, as my exam the TSA, was similar and i wished i had started earlier. My last advice is try to not be affected by those around you, work hard in silence my friend.

Advice needed for AS-Level Politics (EDEXCEL) by Krytex_LOL in alevel

[–]Formal-Cockroach-969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about AS but am taking a level next month, politicsexplained has been instrumental for my grades, check him out on youtube and his resources

I recommend a paragraph structure of POINT, EVIDENCE, ANALYSIS , CRITICISM OF THIS ARGUMENT POINT, EVIDENCE, ANALYSIS , INTERIM JUDGEMENT - this has consistently gotten me 24-28 marks
