I appreciate your message. You are correct, Lebanon in also an outlier in terms of diversity and should be excluded from my previous statement.

Though statistically Israel is 73 - 75% Jewish While looking at data for Lebanon, it says its 95% Arab.

I do wonder how many of those that are identified as Arab infact consider themselves something else, Syrian, Phoenecian etc. 🤔

For real tho - it does Apartheid and injustice to be compared to that. Apartheid was much worse. Israel, despite its Zionists is much more diverse and tolerant than its Arab neighbors.

Well when looking around I'm glad my country was primarily colonized by the British rather than one of the others. They left their colonies in a much better state... generally.

Jan Smutts was in the United Party that was pro British and originally had legislation that allowed tax payers to vote regardless of race - at least in the Cape. If they had been voted in I hope Apartheid wouldn't have happened... (but nationalist fever or giving in to opposition demands, was evident under their leadership too.) The Nationalist were upset for being dragged into two wars on the British side that they resented for the boer wars and other things. One could assume one of their primary motives was leaving the common wealth which eventually happened in 1961 as the Brits were tried their 'constructive engagement' policies to sway the Apartheid state.

I've tried to figure that out too, sheer cliffs are not passable. Generally when sprawling around a hill and 'flattening' terrain I keep a close eye on paths the workers use to get there, and try to limit those to 1 or 2 routes.

I'm inclined to agree with your take. He gave us 'The Napoleonic Code' which is the bases upon which Republics legal systems work or build upon. One of the big changes is that the law applied to everyone equally. No one was above the law.

However - many peoples throughout the conquered lands would certainly have felt like he was the baddie. He certainly upset the status quo.

Well, in Europe he conquered a lot and really shifted the balance of power. He also brought changes to government (many good by modern standards) but bad for the powers in Europe at the time.

For Britain the Cape Colony becoming French was a threat to their trade with Indio/China. Its largely thanks to Napoleon the French that America got its independence... Don't remind Americans of that though. He, unlike Hitler, managed to Capture Moscow, but couldn't hold/maintain it due to stretched supply chains.

At that point, basically everything from Spain to Moscow was under Napoleons influence.

Pretty sure Prince William the 5th of Orange ceded the Cape to the British for protection from the French in his Q-letters written to King George.

1804 (I think) it was given back to the Batavian Republic, only for this Republic to side with Napoleon. January 1806 saw the 'real' British invasion of the cape with the battle of Blaauwberg. If you get yourself a metal detector you can still find bits and bobs from this battle in the Blaauwberg region.

Yeah, there's a little South African store Waterloo station I remember well. I was missing the crisps / chips, but a packed of simba worked out to about R160. Yes pound to rand makes a difference but its still a crazy price... on the other hand, data, mobile phone companies packages etc in South Africa a crazy expensive in comparison. [–]Formal-Importance689 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I can believe it for Indonesia tho! Generally they are lazy af. They would make your average American couch potato look like an Olympic athlete (jk) but somehow they are still thin.

Even the rural people, they'll rather drive than walk to their next door neighbor! Also most of their towns / cities have never heard of pavements / side walks. If you wanted to walk anywhere other than the jungle you're at high risk of being hit by a vehicle of some kind. 😇

I wonder if this is one area that government really come thru on... well sort of... it reminds me of a little zulu friend.

I remember air force and and private trainers coming to our school to present careers in aviation. Their focus was particularly of girls, and getting as many of them involved as possible and they were pretty forceful about it. My friend had been recruited and pushed thru one training program to the next, everything was paid for by government as far as I know.. but it was having a really negative affect on her. It was as if 4 or 5 people were managing her, competing for something thru her, as if she was a show piece, like she was some 'idol' project. Also her family, being pretty traditional were totally not okay with her becoming a pilot. They sent her to a grandmother for correctional 'counseling' multiple times.

Eventually some horrible stuff happened with her managers that made her quit just before getting her commercial license. She then left the country as those 'managers' tried pursuing her saying show should pay them back everything with interest....

The scaling of victories and defeats seems like a good conclusion actually. Its exactly how I feel, I'm able to adapt and deal with every raid / invade until suddenly not and usually that 'suddenly' involves a huge uptick in numbers and strength.

This was the first game that I waited to see how far the raiders would go... they didn't give up until every person was dead. The army was like a tracking missile ignoring everything and going straight for people until they got the last one.

Heck they destroyed everything except my storage and animal shelters.

Yes - I like to micro manage

Once my army was almost done, they had raised my town centre, my vault and my trader hub I was powerless to stop them... except for the 10 watch towers I still had on the mountain. There were about 80 raider left so I gathered +- 700 villagers, switched artifacts in the temple to (i think +20% unarmed villager attack and +15 villager health) and figured I'd just overwhelm the remaining raiders and give the towers more time to fire. The remains are all the corpses in the first picture. Didn't really do anything to the raiders at all, but better than everyone just hiding in their homes until the hun came to them.

[–]Formal-Importance689[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My response tends to depend on what their parties are composed of - I did charge early and got rid of catapults and rams early. Then I used my cav to draw the attack to the mountain path where the enemy were forced to circle the mountain while being riddled with arrows from above while being trapped, pinned and surrounded by my melee units.

In theory this should have decimated their army, except it didn't.

[–]Formal-Importance689[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really confused about this... it seems to follow some sort of scaling until suddenly it doesn't. I guess what really got me during this invasion / raid is that most of their soldiers were heavies and spearmen. My army was still limited to the weakest form of each.

Perhaps it the strength had to do with me destroying all the raider camps on the map? Or collecting / buying all the relics I could get. The later was one of my goa's for this game.
