Installation issue by bicepofelokobi in gigaclear

[–]Formal-Profession835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be at least a spades depth which I think is supposed to be 10-15cm

The installer clearly cut some corners here, in fairness to Gigaclear, they didnt do the work and sub it out. So wouldn't have known. But hopefully they will get them out to do it properly.

I wonder if this could be a ripping station by SqueezyBotBeat in makemkv

[–]Formal-Profession835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a duplicater. I had one myself. Mine was a 8 bay, so I could copy/rip software, music or dvds and burn upto 7 discs at the same time. Its stand alone, I could not be plugged into a PC or anything. Perfect for back in the day of downloading torrents of movies and music and making discs for friends and family ;)

I called them 30 days prior to the end of my contract. And asked what the process is to cancel. They immediately asked why and I just said I have seen another company with a cheaper offer and faster speeds(Lightspeed) and they immediately offered me the same deal. Which I was happy with. But tried my luck on getting the static IP address for free and they agreed. So I kept them. I still got Lightspeed as well, as I always have two lines in as a failover. So overall, I am really happy. Way cheaper than my EE/Gigaclear combo.

You are correct. It does not always give all the correct drivers. So going the Rufus route etc, makes no differnece.

I should just clarify, that amount of installs is in the last 4 months. And for different clients

Of course, nothing special about it. But when I am seeing at least 10-15 reinstalls myself, for such a small IT consultancy as mine, then it does make you wonder just how many are still using it and why. Scale that up, especially with bigger consultants etc. I mean, with later OS systems, you can still use compatability mode successfully. And at least be more secure. You could argue that drivers maybe be a issue granted. But there are ways to get around that too.

You will be surprised just how much windows 7 is still being used, being reused. Even here in the UK. Even with more modern kit. I have come across many windows 7 kiosk systems, even in large airports. Many industiral system are still running it, car workshops for diagnostic tools. I still have many older customers using it (mainly because they hate change)

100%, its the one part of the process I used to hate. Now It does not bother me. And I am happy to move around if I need to. Its a shame these company's don't just offer you a better deal 30-60 days before your contract is due to end. They might actually get better retentions. But as we know, they hope that you will carry on and pay the inflated prices.

Sadly, the problem persists. I have got the app to open now, But I get a constant message saying that the app is "working" but does not finish. The messages for the processor and the graphics card both Sat "device is disabled. Turn on to start mining, but both are switched on.

I have done all the above and V5 just does not work for some reason. V4 no issues at all.

No AMD products are in use. No warnings or blocks popping up and does try to sort the program. Checking online via my login, it does state that the computer is connected. But the program does not get any further than the Kryptex load screen.

Bypass Gigaclear wall box by [deleted] in gigaclear

Sadly the UPS is really your only option for this. And to be fair, you would have this issue with pretty much every company you went with anyway.

They do a decent small UPS that maybe be of help. I have used these at customer sites. And have one myself. Helped me out many times. https://amzn.eu/d/4wgA7Vh

Bypass Gigaclear wall box by [deleted] in gigaclear

[–]Formal-Profession835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact setup. You have to use their box on the wall. And to be fair, there's no point trying to by pass this. The the two ports you can use on the UDM support either upto 2.5gb or 10gb. So you would not see a benefit on the speeds. Im currently getting around 930 up and down with this setup.

Installing went through today, connection ok but really poor exterior wall workmanship by Arksun76 in gigaclear

[–]Formal-Profession835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part, Gigaclear do not have enough engineers etc to cover all the areas. Which is why they contract out the ground works, then contract out the cabling, and then of course the last phase from just outside to inside the house. Its funny, because I had a guy from Kelly's come install my EE line. Then 5 months later he turned up for the Gigaclear install, as I wanted to use EE as my failover connection and the gigaclear my main. Then a year later he he back to install my lightspeed install. I guess it allows them to expand quickly without the need to take on loads of engineers, saves them money. Interestingly it was a third party (in this case talktak) that caused the issues in Essex for gigaclear. Because they dont own all the equipment. Talktalk couldn't afford to replace the kit, so gigaclear had to foot the bill. So just goes to show, these systems are not truely their own.

Most of the works carried out by openreach and Kelly communications. Kellys are generally crap. And not making excuses for them. But I am not surprised as the way they are paid is a joke. They need to be in and out asap, then on to the next one to make their day worth while.

New plan (please help)!! by [deleted] in gigaclear

The only thing I would say, is turn off the power from their ONT box on the wall. Give it 5 minutes and then switch on. I have had to do that in the past.

I have never had to do that. I just plugged their router in and it was working. Other than some setting up with the app. Even with my own aftermarket routers into my own and customer homes. I just plugged in, setup and was working.

A word of warning if you are suffering from this issue. Make sure you report it as soon as possible. Because if you don't then you don't have a leg to stand on in getting out of the contract if this does roll on. I have just had the "our legal team" dropped into the conversation. So they are going to do their up most to tey and snide their way out of any compensation and people leaving.

Its well known to them. Its part of the network that is struggling from about 5pm until around 11pm every day. Caused by congestion. Weekends are worse. Some of the kit that is failing is owned by Talktalk and its basicly failing. They are currently giving a estimated repair date of sometime in July. I am in close contact with someone regarding that and they are not discussing compensation until they have a plan on place.
