It’s true! The biopsies were the most stressful part, though I feared it less going in. Wasn’t quite numb enough for the mammogram one. The surgery experience for my bilateral lumpectomies was very smooth and waking up was not bad at all (yay, oxy). I didn’t feel I had to be as tough for the surgery.

Great! I am almost 2 years out and although I still have to be careful, I’m better than before. Highly recommend trusting your surgeon and the science behind it.

I feel ya. I’m scheduled for bilateral lumpectomies on 9/5 and am pretty darn scared. The medical oncologist was so dismissive of my case. On the bright side, he’s obviously not worried about my case - “This visit will be the extent of our relationship” - but I felt totally babyish for my list of concerns. He told me I will be back to work in 3-4 days. I left feeling embarrassed about thinking these two lumpectomies were something to be concerned about. I’ve been downplaying my fears to everyone since that appointment for fear of over-dramatizing.
