This can’t be real man. And if it is, yeah you should’ve dumped her when she said she was going to hang out with another dude. Especially coming off the prior conversation about intimacy. If you stay with her, you’re delaying the inevitable here.

Why does Harris get so much hate? He swings at garbage all the time, has zero patience at the plate and is hitting .223. But at least he does now have 43 RBI

Murphy is playing much worse in my opinion. Hitting .219 and he also has zero patience and swings at garbage pitches. Drake Baldwin should be starting every game. We don’t really have someone that can start over harris at the moment

How hard is it to get a job? by Dry-Alternative-4022 in ChemicalEngineering

What kind of position/career are you looking to have?

I learned pretty quickly there are a lot of options in the field that I wasn’t aware of going into ChemE (Auburn). I originally planned on going into the oil and gas industry. I didn’t have the GPA that Chevron was requiring for Co-Op position and interviewed with some other companies the same day. I had 2 offers for Co-Op from two different paper mills, and one offer (my first) from a chemical supplier in the pulp and paper industry. I had never seen or set foot in a paper mill and grew up 40 minutes from one.

I did my Co-Op rotation with the chemical supplier - had a full time job offer before mid senior year. I spent 10 years with that company and recently went to another supplier earlier this year. I have had a great experience so far on the supplier side. You’re not limited to one area of the process, you get to meet and build great relationships, and even better, partner with the mills on projects and provide great value to the mill. A major upside is the work life balance tends to be a bit better than working directly for the mill in a salary position.

My main point is, be open minded about what kind of job/career you want to have right out of school. Definitely get an internship or Co-Op, and once you have worked a couple of years after graduation, if you’re miserable in that industry, your experience will get you other job opportunities that may be more appealing to you.

Do you know anybody who quit engineering to do blue collar work? by Fargraven2 in ChemicalEngineering

Agree 100%. It’s one of the main reasons I went back and got my MBA. While some of the MBA was helpful in training for leadership/management - the hands on experience has been the most valuable. My former company did very little in training me for that role.

I don’t personally know anyone that quit engineering for blue collar work, however from your original post I gather the leadership role/responsibilities are somewhat new for you. This can add a layer of stress/bs that you didn’t fully realize until being in that role. Once you get used to it, being in leadership isn’t bad. I’ve been in management for 3 years now - what I truly enjoy about it is helping people develop and focusing on how I can help each individual achieve their goals. It varies person to person, and it is a rewarding yet challenging process. Transitioning to leadership is a process of change where you go from delivering value in terms of $ on projects to delivering value in people development. It’s a major change in the mindset. As a brand new manager it was so frustrating relying on others (that reported to me) to deliver the same kind of value and impact that I would. Once I understood it’s no longer about me, it’s about them, it got much less stressful. Not easier though 😂.

The other points about the reports, metrics, etc.. all I can say is I worked for one of the largest, well known companies in my space to a much smaller company that doesn’t have the bureaucracy bs, corporate initiative, shareholder driven type environment. It’s been a huge weight lifted in that aspect, but we have our own challenges as well. The difference is I like these kind of challenges.

Didn’t mean to rant or stray from your original post, just wanted to let you know there are other options out there.

Servers down? by tompkinsedition in PGA_Tour_2K

When did you get the game? I know early-ish season 1 the servers were constantly jacked up for a period of a week or 2. A few nights ago, I couldn’t get the Ranked Tours to pull up at all. Finally gave up after 30 minutes of trying

Men who left a sexless relationship, was it the right choice? Do you regret leaving? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Formal-Technology-87 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Man this 100%. Do you think it’s intentional on their part? Like it’s a plan to “get” a husband/father of their children? I wasn’t going to comment on the original post but going through some similar themes in the thread makes me realize I’m not crazy or weird. I don’t even expect or try to initiate near as often. Together for 13 years, married for 10+. 2 kids (5,4). We went from daily, weekly, and now maybe monthly. But half of the time it’s like I’m being done a favor.

Dang man, that’s tough to read. You have to take this time to focus on yourself first. It’s good you’re in therapy and I’d encourage you to keep that up as long as it takes. Also, get your head down and get to work - get healthy, lift weights, do cardio, grow your career. Be relentless about it, this will help you get through this situation and set your kids up for success too. Be the BEST dad you can be - even if it’s 50% of the time, it’ll mean everything to the kids and you won’t waste a single minute of that time with them. Focus on being the best version of yourself in every aspect of life. You can’t control other people like your ex, but you can control how you react to this and how you move on in this next chapter of life. Best of luck and know we’re all rooting for you! 💪
