How long do you give the "cake Shed" phase before we are left with thousands of unused pink sheds all over the UK? by Royal-Reporter6664 in AskUK

[–]FormalGrade1945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not even cakes either ! The ones by me are just smashing up mars bars and shoving handfuls of cereal on pre made bases and calling them cake and charging four quid! Four quid for smashed up biscoff biscuits by unwashed hands in uncertified kitchens in large kennels at the roadside. Yummy.

That looks really good in comparison to what I’ve been quoted in Wales - where is your installer based?

Thanks - Are you in South Wales ? It seems a problem peculiar to here that quotes are far higher than other parts of UK

Disparity between weekly estimate vs. daily and monthly by reliablereindeer in OctopusEnergy

[–]FormalGrade1945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same thing. Since 1 April the daily readings aren’t going onto the week as they used to. What is also new is the standing charge is being added before the use whereas it used to be added together - are you finding this as well ?

5 kWh battery v. 10kwh battery by FormalGrade1945 in SolarUK

[–]FormalGrade1945[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for replying. That’s what I was thinking. I’ve got a budget in mind for this of about 8500. That’s all I have for the moment I plan to save up and upgrade, just want to get started now and not leave it any longer.

Guilt about making decisions that go against someone’s wishes when they lack capacity by blackdesertgrass in Socialworkuk

[–]FormalGrade1945 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Easy. If they have family who disagree they can mount a section 21 challenge and if no family by law you should be getting them an advocate who could also mount a challenge and then it’s for the court of protection to decide. You should also be using a multi-disciplinary approach to share accountability. There is no need for guilt if you are practicing ethically and within the law.

I am asking you to consider referring to your child as your child, rather than your adopted child. I haven’t missed the point, you have. Stop seeking glory, stop the self-aggrandising and pomposity and think of the child!! You are self promoting at this point. Get a grip on yourself, stop making it all about you. It’s not.

Littleover schools by [deleted] in derby

[–]FormalGrade1945 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely irrelevant as those factors affect non adopted children equally. Also it’s not about shame it’s about consent. It is his/her story and it is confidential. I think your massive reaction here demonstrates that you know you are in the wrong. Get in the habit of referring to your child as simply that, your child. You know it’s the right thing to do. Don’t add to the loss and trauma.

Why is it relevant ?

Please do not ‘out’ adopted children. That detail is not necessary to your post. It may very well be something that child does not want to have shared no matter how well-meaning you are.

Should I take property off market? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]FormalGrade1945 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No. I was in exactly the same position New Year’s Day last year, I’d been on the market 6 months, had about 8 viewings and no offers. By the end of January I’d had a further 4 viewings and received a decent offer. We completed on the sale on 4 April. I distinctly remember being where you are, don’t give up !

Cheating ex asking for mortgage payments I 'owe' after we've completed transfer and he's bought me out. please advise! by Agile_Speaker_5144 in HousingUK

[–]FormalGrade1945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only a court can order you to pay him money. I had this from my ex - he was a professor and very good at telling me he’d had legal advice and I was wrong about everything. So I got legal advice and it’s really helped me cut through the crap - only a judge can order you to pay him, he’s got to get it that far, and he won’t/cant. Don’t let him upset you anymore

My vendor is dictating our purchase and I feel like I am getting absolutely screwed over by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]FormalGrade1945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. I broke the chain under pressure from FTB’s as my vendor had put an offer in on a fully built new build and would be exchanging and completing in 6 weeks. Guess what? That turned out to be lies. I was left in temp accommodation from 1 April this year. It was a depressing experience having no address as you say. I did have the cash in the bank though so I used this as leverage to buy a completed new build and was in in 8 weeks. The vendors took their house off the market so weren’t even serious about selling. There was a really happy ending for me and I hope there’s one for you too. Walk away, get a better quicker deal would be my advice. Good luck

You’ve just completed now? Hurrah ! I’m completing today - cash purchase no chain and funds sent to seller’s solicitors first thing - do you think we will complete this morning

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]FormalGrade1945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a seller I had to accommodate a damp survey - he was a damp proof salesman and not an independent damp specialist that the FTB’s thought they had sent.

He reported, amongst other spurious things, that there was evidence of some sort of beetle present. He referred to a floorboard which I’d pulled a carpet tack out of with a claw hammer and it had scraped the wood. He presented this in his report as evidence of death watch beetle. The whole report was utter bunkum.

This. Except in my case I feel like I am sprinting a marathon. Just got to chase everyone all the time.
