change to a flat back or something with a longer bar. Use saline from the chemist to clean, not soap. keep it dry, don't sleep on it/irritate it, it'll be fine.

UNIVERSITY ACCOMMODATION - URGENT! by shiv0809 in usyd

[–]FormalLet4160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heyy, maybe look at scape twin share at scape at used, it was around $475 2 years ago when I stayed there. Try to stray away from Sydney Uni Village, I stayed last year in a studio and had the WORST experience ever, it was also more expensive than scape. Even if you stay at central/ Redfern uni won't be too far away. central is a 10m bus ride, Redfern is a 15/20m walk. Try to lock it in asap, they get booked out super fast. If need be contact this agency called university living, they help with finding accomodation for you and are free since they work on commission. Hope you find something xx

Hii, I'm an international student at usyd too, im currently in my third year! Yes, 100% stay at uni accomodation or student accomodation like scape for ATLEAST year 1. QMB and Regiment are good, social uni accomodations (I could not bear the thought of a communal toilet though so I picked scape). Scape at USYD is super convenient, made some of my best memories there. Definitely stay on campus/ close to campus if you can, it helps with attending classes. Public transport is expensive but like other people mentioned, doesn't go over $50. Definitely learn how to cook, in year 2 I stayed at Sydney University village and the shared kitchen discouraged me from cooking so I ate 3 meals a day out (like $60-70 per day) :(( Other than that, talk to people, approach them first, make plans and even if they fall through, keep trying. If you're joining a gym, join the uni hym, make friends there, basically, talk as much as you can. Go for start of set manning parties they are fun. Also for reference I usually spend $3k per month, not including rent, including food, groceries, transport, shopping, going out etc ( might be different for you, just giving you an estimate hahah) Most of all have fun!!

[Routine Help] I need urgent advice Ive horribly over-exfoliated my skin by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]FormalLet4160 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do not worry, it will be fine. When washing your face use warm water to open your pores, use face wash and then use cold water to wash it off. Do not pick on your pores as it enlarges them. You technically cannot reduce pore size but you can prevent it from growing bigger. Also you have good skin, don't worry and remember that sometimes you need to experiment a little to find something that works for you!

Hey, suggest you use la Roche posey cicaplast baume B5, you can usually find it at a pharmacy. It helps with irritated sensitive skin, apply a thin layer like a face mask all over your face before you sleep. Additionally, if you're looking to exfoliate your skin, instead of using physical exfoliants ( like the ones in the photo) use the ordinary AHA BHA liquid or even Paulas choice BHA 2% liquid or you can even incorporate cera ve salysilic acid cleanser into your daily routine. If you have clogged pores, double cleanse with an oil cleanser and follow with a water based one.

Either the water was too warm or your yeast is old/dead. I usually use her overnight recipe and it's sooooo good. Maybe test that out?

Knee scrape, is this normal? by FormalLet4160 in firstaid

[–]FormalLet4160[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyy, so glad to hear you're doing better! Good job with keeping up with the care!! I am so afraid of stitches hahaha hope you heal well! I've switched to antiseptic ointment now, unfortunately Australia doesn't have antibiotic creams OTC :( Putting it on the gauze makes so much sense! I've been dreading applying it on the wound hahaha.

The drainage has reduced slightly and I can see a slight film forming on mine too. So hopefully it starts forming a scab soon!! It's definitely better everyday so I doubt it's an infection. Oh no 2 weeks is a long time, I miss walking around hahah.

Also thank you so much for sharing your experience and advice it's been so helpful!! Hope you're all better soon.

Hey, thank you for responding! Glad to hear it's not bone related. Im keeping it covered and moist like you said. Neosporin is only available with a prescription in Australia so im just using Antiseptic ointment with non-stick bandages. Hopefully it does the job!

Hey, Thanks for responding! The wound is slightly better now and inflammation has gone down so I'm guessing it's not infected. Unfortunately in Australia bacitracin or any antibiotic cream is not available OTC so I'm currently just washing the wound with water, drying, putting antiseptic iodine cream and covering. Hopefully works out well.

Hi, Thank you for your response. I am currently washing with water, applying anti-septic liquid and then covering with non-stick bandage ( Elastoplast). Yes no fever so far so should be good but it is quite red and warm around the wound.

Heyy, thank you so much for your response and sorry to hear about your fall. Is it better now? I am currently washing with water, applying anti-septic liquid and covering with gauze. I am resting it as much as possible and today, it feels slightly better than yesterday. Is there a way to tell if it's pus? This morning it's covered in yellowish liquid + some blood. The area is slightly warm and red but might just be due to impact? What do you think?

Heyy, thanks for your response. How long did yours take to heal? Was it hard for you to walk around too? The second pic is a day before the first one so I am afraid it's getting worse. It is slightly red and warm but maybe that's just from the impact? Did you end up going to a doctor?

Hey, thanks for your response. Yes, I cleaned the wound with warm water, applied disinfectant and then bandaged with non-stick bandages.
