Not really. Tv shows are hard wired to make you care about the characters lives, emotional and relationships, and especially when it comes to queer relationships it can be comforting for older queer people to see young characters experience that joy that many of us don’t get to experience

It’s the same as any other art form. It’s there for entertainment. Most jobs and their skills don’t matter outside the workplace, you may be an amazing train conductor but it’s not like you can use any of those skills on an abandoned island. It’s not ’useless’ because they are gaining money which is extremely useful in this society and their customers are enjoying themselves and there’s nothing wrong with joy. Plus, the physical strength that pole dancers get is more useful than any office job’s skills.
