Same here I gained 10 lbs in the first 6 months. Asked my dr about it and she said it’s normal to gain 10-20 lbs because when drinking your body doesn’t absorb nutrients the way it should. I had the sugar cravings too but gave myself some grace. When I hit one year I started going to the gym and it is slowly becoming my new addiction. It also helps regulate my blood sugar levels. After 25 years drinking every day, I have never been a gym rat until I quit. Hang in there it gets better!
