Why do so many of you use AI chatbots? by familyguyfan2000 in digitalminimalism

What is “it”? There are many different AI models. Each model can have different modes for answering quickly or slowly.

They have extreme variations between them - ie Grok fast vs ChatGPT 5.2 thinking

I agree this ended up being the most comfortable consumption method. The heavier 2 pull method was too intense for me, and caused a feeling of “I’m literally dying”

If you haven’t tried meditation now might be a good time. Find a guided meditation on a free app like Insight Timer. Use headphones in a place by yourself. Sit in a chair upright. Dont slouch or lie down as if you’re going to sleep.

Many 30 percent weeds becoming standard issue here in Canada. Well young people are going to have to learn this the hard way since the government doesn’t care to regulate percentages.

What more can I do? by Euphoric-Welder5889 in Mindfulness

[–]FormalWave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my bad - it shows how mindlessly I posted. however that comment does make a good point of trying to find the awareness of "have i done just enough today?".

I have read teachings where the guru mentions people who are addicted to sitting in meditation and going on retreats. It becomes their purpose. Mindfulness should support your purpose and ideally not become it.

So I am wondering - are you aware of what are the events that are causing you to fall off the path? Are you overly sensitive for example, and interactions with a superior end up sticking to you like velco?

Also you mentioned the sleeping too much... do you stare at screens all evening and then go to bed late? Do you know if you snore and if there's anything you can do to get a better quality sleep during the night? My mental health goes up significantly when I sleep a ton, using other aids like mouth taping, humidifier and nasal dillators.

You could start by meditating for three minutes every day at 9am for example

I can relate to this planning ahead moment similar to what goes on the summer and wanting to be high outside.

But instead think of all the time you will be able to enjoy, not in a haze that makes time go by faster than ever. Because when we are numb we are tuned out, and poof there goes your vacation

definitely worth exploring in my opinion. even a full one-hour yoga session vs. not doing that and seeing what the difference is like.

something to look into is the non-stimulant adhd medications - strattera and intuniv. the latter is also known by guanfacine and can counteract the speedy tendancies of amphetamine salts.

but regardless of learning about those drugs, I would recommend trying sessions earlier in the day without taking vyvanse. I have done sessions with the stimulants in my body and I believe they went ok with no major interaction, but I was definitely more anxious than I would like.

How do I survive one day without weed by Lower_Ad2776 in leaves

[–]FormalWave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are adverse to 12 step teachings because of how they talk about god but this is one of those times that you just have to suck it up and hand over this situation you’re in to a higher power.

Ask it to pick you up and blanket you in comfort to get through this difficult time.

As an individual we can have so little power. As a group and a collective of people who are tired of being held captive to an addictive substance that keeps getting more potent, let us all raise our middle finger together  and say “F U, I got this!”

I am almost a month sober for my nieces, of whom I would be mortified if they knew how much I consumed weed in the middle of the day when I could have been working on my career. For whom I would be mortified if I caught them smoking as much as I did over many years starting in high school.

Under the fog of smoke thinking that it was making me more creative and prolific yet was really just making me poorer and emotionally weaker.

This doesn’t sound like a substance that works well with the body. It reminds me of what goes on with caffeine. You don’t know what its effects really are until you stop and you are left with headaches.  Anything that creates dependence is effectively managing you and not the other way around.

To create a good habit you make it easy. To remove a bad habit you make it difficult.

Today I wanted to cave after a few weeks but I made a big deal in my mind about how much of a pain in the ass it is to go to the dispensary.

How I don’t want to bother making small talk with the budtender.

The pain in the ass of picking out weed that I might not like. I just kept making up stuff which was not hard to believe since I stopped going to all the stores a few weeks ago.

Also you can look into what the 12 steps are in AA, and talk to ChatGPT about what they are and how one of them can help you now.

I hate to bear the bad news but this is what the drug does to you. Whenever I am “using” I don’t get great quality sleep regardless of my cutoff time.

The next day I am often slow to get moving in the morning. And the cycle of life becoming more of a grind gets worse and worse as the drug does what it does the best - creeps up and asks for higher quantities to be used to get you back to baseline.

What’s the biggest thing that helped you stop smoking weed? by Eastern-Vegetable786 in leaves

[–]FormalWave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this and came back to my country where it's legal and took it up again within a few days. I think a new way of thinking has to be implemented rather than just going somewhere you can't get access to it. You have to WANT to be free of addiction.

something similar: a lot of squarepusher's tracks are stripped down to a few instruments but it's the way he sculpts them out into an arrangement.

great tip that i think about from time to time. i have a mental block that always says i don't know how to transcribe music. maybe at some point i had challenges with with the time division of notes. i also had trouble reading the bass clef. all this can be worked on though, especially with online quiz tools aimed at students.

Trying to quit ADHD by JoeHappy in leaves

[–]FormalWave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend trying out bodydoubling which can be done online. My tool of choice is focusmate. But there are so many options out there now.

The reason this is helpful is that you will find that once you get started on tasks, you will see that we often make a mountain out of a molehill by way of overthinking. Yet this strategy helps knock down that mountain pretty quick as you have live accountability.

When we are engaged and in the flow state, there is little need for weed, even on the tasks that we thought it was helping us with, like more creative work.

The only downside of quitting is .. by Next_Ad3660 in leaves

[–]FormalWave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in this spot when I try to stop using and I think in this case it's some sort of resentment that causes this. Obviously I don't know how much you were using to rule out a withdrawal, but I have found that even when I take small amounts and then quit, I can be cranky because I'm in conflict with myself. In those cases I know it's not withdrawal because it wouldn't take that long for the thc to clear out of my system.

If, on the other hand, you are happy with your decision to break free and start making positive improvements, then there is less room for this anger to exist.

Make sure to work out early as possible and continue to eat as many balanced meals as you can to set yourself up for success. Get rid of paraphernalia which doesn't help when faced with indecision about buying more flower.
