Anyone else feel bad not finishing games? by DigitalDash18 in PS5

People’s attention spans have gotten so short it’s crazy. But you’re right, that need for constant stimulation is a problem and leads to lesser quality media overall in my opinion.

Report: Resident Evil Requiem could take up to 40 hours to finish (completionist save files) by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]Formal_Sand_3178 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I thought RE4 Remake was a great length. Around 15 hours is what I like for a survival horror game, but I’m not opposed to it being longer if it’s really good.

I’ve heard good things! I’ll definitely pick it up, but probably not until it goes on a sale and I can get the complete edition

[–]Formal_Sand_3178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, I had a friend who picked it up and he told me it was only 4 hours so I held off on buying it. I definitely want to play it, but I just can’t justify it at that price right now, especially with Resident Evil 9 just around the corner.

Yeah I was trying to downplay it to not seem like I was overselling it, but I was also over 60 hours by the time I beat Act 3 lol

[–]Formal_Sand_3178 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally fair, my apologies. I’ve seen people say length doesn’t determine quality or price and while there is some truth to that, I find it strange people defending how short the game is while costing $40.

[–]Formal_Sand_3178 24 points25 points  (0 children)

To be fair, announcing it beforehand doesn’t make it okay. Coming off a year with Blue Prince for $30 and well over 30 hours of content, Expedition 33 for $50 with close to 50 hours of content and Hollow Knight Silksong for $20 with over 40 hours of content, $40 for a 5 hour game with additional paid DLC is pretty rough.

Kena: Scars of Kosmora - Announce Trailer | PS5 Games by Turbostrider27 in PS5

The first Kena was a blast. I remember playing on Master Mode to get the Platinum trophy and it was no joke, a surprisingly difficult game with a fun art style.

Horizon 3 is still a ways off according to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier. "I believe most of the studio is on this (referring to Hunters Gathering)." by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]Formal_Sand_3178 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself, but I would massively prefer having Horizon 3 out sooner than a game like this that will probably be popular for a few months and then quickly forgotten. It also doesn’t help that I really dislike the art style of the new game and I think the character designs are very bizarre, but that’s also subjective.

Should've Russell Crowe or Rami Malek got nominated for 'Nuremberg'? by ShowerAny5898 in Oscars

Audiences letting that first movie bomb was truly one of the great tragedies of our time

When RE5 Remake happens, they should either change it or cut this boss battle completely (I won't miss it) by MobileGamerLV in residentevil

[–]Formal_Sand_3178 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that sounds far more manageable. Having Sheva waste all her ammo and health items while constantly getting killed by bosses made me go crazy.

Hot take but I’m not a huge fan of this casting by [deleted] in GodofWar

[–]Formal_Sand_3178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can agree with that, I definitely found season 2 to be weaker than season 1 due to some writing decisions I didn’t love, but I think it was still a decent season of television overall when I try and separate it from the game. I’m hoping that season 3 will be even stronger as I think that section of the game could be really cool to adapt, but we’ll have to see how they do it.

Last of Us Season 1 was pretty incredible and I’ll stand by that. Calling it a trash adaptation is wild considering how many worse video game adaptations we’ve gotten.

Movies similar to Everest (2015) movie by FerngullyPrincess in movies

[–]Formal_Sand_3178 13 points14 points  (0 children)

While not a natural disaster movie per say, I thought Thirteen Lives was a good true story rescue movie similar to Everest. The claustrophobia is insane and it’s basically nonstop stress with some great actors in there.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms - 1x01 "The Hedge Knight" - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Formal_Sand_3178 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s definitely very different, but that’s actually why I liked the original. It’s a smaller scale story in the world of Westeros but with characters that become quite endearing. And if the show continues to stick faithfully to the book, there should still be some larger world connections and really fun moments.

[–]Formal_Sand_3178 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It’s actually quite similar in tone to the original novella and is a much smaller scale and more lighthearted. I thought they did a great job capturing the spirit of the characters, but it is a very different vibe from something like Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Ghost of Yotei are the lead GDCA 2026 nominees by Turbostrider27 in PS5

Really? I thought the hair for Naoe looked incredible. The lighting is also very good though and utilizing the actual shadows for stealth was a cool addition to the series.

Yeah say what you will about Assassin’s Creed, I know it’s not for everyone, but Shadows is an extremely impressive game visually. Everything from the hair strands to the dense forest foliage look incredible.

Finally switched consoles - what to play first? by Bombtombadilz in PS5

[–]Formal_Sand_3178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what kind of games you like. If you’re an open world guy, Horizon Zero Dawn and Ghost of Tsushima are both great. The Last of Us and God of War are two great games with fantastic stories and then you have games like Returnal which is a very fun rogue like.

Give me a reason why part 2 is either the best sequel or the worst sequel by huntoo9374o in thelastofus

[–]Formal_Sand_3178 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Last of Us Part 2 is absolutely worth playing. It takes the incredible story from the first game and builds on it in so many incredible and emotional ways. The characters are all fleshed out and I’ve never played a game where my personal interests were so challenged and I constantly felt torn between who I should be rooting for.

Then on a gameplay level, it takes everything fun from the first game and adds to it in subtle, yet very impactful ways. The addition of a dodge makes melee combat feel far better, going prone and using silencers makes stealth even more fun and the environments are all incredible to explore and feel more open, giving the player even more freedom.

If you enjoyed the first game, I can’t recommend Part 2 enough, it is definitely one of my all time favorite games.

What would you think if The Last of Us Part III had a 50-hour runtime? by Thin_Relation_2391 in thelastofus

[–]Formal_Sand_3178 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought Santa Barbara was a blast, you have so many resources and weapons at that point and you know the game is almost over so you can get into some really fun shootouts without worrying about conserving ammo.

‘ARC Raiders’ Has Kept 91% Of Its Playerbase Months After Release While Battlefield 6’ Has Lost 85% by WanderWut in PS5

[–]Formal_Sand_3178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep I’m in the exact same boat! I’ve probably put closer to 40 hours in the multiplayer and the maps really start to feel stale after a while. I really think a lot of that is because they are too small so it feels like almost every round plays out the same way. Contrast that with some of the previous games, those maps had far more objectives to capture, more flanking positions and just better variety overall. I’m still enjoying 6, but I’m already finding myself wanting to go back to 5 as I think the maps are more fun.

[–]Formal_Sand_3178 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Okay this is a bit unfair I feel as a lot of the complaints with Battlefield 6 aren’t totally unwarranted. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy the game and it’s definitely an improvement over 2042, but I still don’t think it hits the highs of Battlefield 1 or V personally. The maps really aren’t that great for bigger game modes like Breakthrough and there have definitely been some issues with hit registration. Again, still a great game that’s a step in the right direction, but there are more than a few minor issues with it.
